  • Magic Study

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 35 mins)
    • By Maria V. Snyder
    • Narrated By Gabra Zackman
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

With her greatest enemy dead, and on her way to be reunited with the family she'd been stolen from long ago, Yelena should be pleased. But though she has gained her freedom, she can't help feeling isolated in Sitia. Her Ixian background has changed her in many ways, and her newfound friends and relatives don't think it's for the better....

Kestrel says: "As good as Poison Study, perhaps better"
    "Waiting for third!"

Great Sequel. Good blend of fantasy and suspense, with a little bit of romance (not a mushy romance novel, nothing to give you cavities). Great characters. Good, easy, fun book.

  • Warm Bodies: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 4 mins)
    • By Isaac Marion
    • Narrated By Kevin Kenerly
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

R is a young man with an existential crisis—he is a zombie. He has no memories, no identity, and no pulse, but he has dreams. His ability to connect with the outside world is limited to a few grunted syllables, but his inner life is deep, full of wonder and longing. After experiencing a teenage boy’s memories while consuming his brain, R makes an unexpected choice that begins a tense, awkward, and strangely sweet relationship with the victim’s human girlfriend, Julie.

    Charles says: "Surprising"

definitely for the listeners who do not mind their books being a little silly. Still one of my favorite end of the world/zombie books. give it a try, you'll chuckle. This one also has a bit of existentialism thrown in. A good listen.

  • A Game of Thrones: A Song of Ice and Fire, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (33 hrs and 50 mins)
    • By George R. R. Martin
    • Narrated By Roy Dotrice
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

In a time long forgotten, a preternatural event threw the seasons off balance. In a land where summers can last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing. As the cold returns, sinister forces are massing beyond the protective wall of the kingdom of Winterfell. To the south, the king's powers are failing, with his most trusted advisor mysteriously dead and enemies emerging from the throne's shadow.

DCinMI says: "Review of First 5 Books"

I have listened to hundreds of audiobooks, none of which made me as annoyed with the reader as this one did. When speaking for the Stark Family, he does a good job, but whenever he is speaking for a sinister, or an unlikeable character, the tone of his voice changes. He sounds as if has missing teeth, a lisp, as if spit was coming out of his mouth with every word, or as if he had a loogie stuck in his throat and is trying to cough it out (especially when evil characters laugh). Not only is that absolutely disgusting to listen to, but also gives away the intentions of the characters. Characters that appear friendly in order to full the reader are read with a menacing voice which foreshadows their deceit and betrayal. I can tell you which character is sincere by how he/she is read by this reader.

  • The Ruins

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 39 mins)
    • By Scott Smith
    • Narrated By Patrick Wilson
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

The Ruins follows two American couples enjoying a pleasant, lazy beach holiday together in Mexico. On an impulse, they go off with newfound friends in search of one of their group, the young German who, in pursuit of a girl, has headed for the remote Mayan ruins, site of a fabled archeological dig.

    Art says: "The Plant"

I almost missed this great book because of all the negative reviews it has received. This book is a definitive must read for all the S. King fans out there, as he is probably kicking himself in the behind for not coming up with the concept first. Spooky, scary, a bit disgusting, awesome!!!!!!!

  • Prior Bad Acts

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 42 mins)
    • By Tami Hoag
    • Narrated By Holter Graham
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

It was a crime so brutal, it changed the lives of even the most hardened homicide cops. The Haas family murders left a scar on the community nothing can erase, but everyone agrees that convicting the killer, Karl Dahl, is a start. Only Judge Carey Moore seems to be standing in the way. Her ruling that Dahl's prior criminal record is inadmissible raises a public outcry, and puts the judge in grave danger.

    "Very Good!!!"

  • Blackwood Farm

    • UNABRIDGED (20 hrs and 38 mins)
    • By Anne Rice
    • Narrated By David Pittu
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

A story of youth and promise, of loss and the search for love, of secrets and destiny, Blackwood Farm brings together the Vampire Chronicles and the story of the Mayfair Witches, and is Anne Rice at her mesmerizing best.

    Justyna says: "fantastic!"

This is probably one of my very favorite books. I loved the story and all the characters in it. This book is definitely for the open minded who are not afraid of same sex love scenes (not graphic or vulgar) that are quite common in the vampire genre.

  • A Perfect Evil

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 45 mins)
    • By Alex Kava
    • Narrated By Richard Rowan

The brutal murders of three young boys paralyze the citizens of Platte City, Nebraska. What's worse is the grim realization that the man recently executed for the crimes was a copycat. When Sheriff Nick Morrelli is called to the scene of another grisly murder, it becomes clear that the real predator is still at large, waiting to kill again.

Ronna says: "Potential great thriller-bit like soap opera!!"
    "just ok"

this book was...well..just ok. It did the job of keeping me occupied at work but that's about it. Both the male and female leads were quite weak and uninteresting. I would say that i had the story figured out by hour four...
