From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan ("the devil") and placed a bounty on his head.

Jeremy Heere is your average high school dork. Day after day he stares at beautiful Christine, the girl he can never have, and dryly notes the small humiliations that come his way, until the day he is told about the "squip". A pill-sized supercomputer that you swallow, the squip is guaranteed to bring you whatever you most desire in life. By instructing him on everything from what to wear to how to talk and walk, the squip transforms Jeremy from a supergeek to one of the most popular guys in class.

On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

the book is intriguing from its first opening line to a satisfying climax with enough likeable characters to be rooted for even if you think they're not going to make it out alive. I would a friend should read. Stephen King is a true artist of making you sit back relax and enjoy what the hell is going on? Plus it rains body parts in the first chapter (spoiler alert)

What did you like best about this story?

I like the idea of a town run by a corrupt official and the followers. Realistic terror and tension. Really made the hair stand on end.

What does Raul Esparza bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I like the way he brought the characters to life. Every detail of the voice of 25 or more was there. I could picture the faces of the characters as they talked and their action and reactions.

If you could rename Under the Dome, what would you call it?

    One Nation, Under Dome

Palo Alto is the debut of a surprising and powerful new literary voice. Written with an immediate sense of place - claustrophobic and ominous - James Franco's collection traces the lives of an extended group of teenagers as they experiment with vices of all kinds, struggle with their families and one another, and succumb to self-destructive, often heartless nihilism.
