I loved this book. I was never exactly sure how it was going to turn out and it continued to keep me wanting for more. I am sad that it is done. I need to find another Nora Roberts soon...
I bought this book because of all of the great reviews. It is rare that I can't finish a book - but this one - I simply had to stop listening to 4 hours in. The first couple of chapters were good - really built the story but then when he was told what he had to do I couldn't take it anymore. I will give up a credit for this...not happy about it.
I have read all of the Bosch books but when it came time to read this I hesitated based on the negative reviews. Finally I realized that I needed to see how "bad" it was for myself and I have to say I enjoyed it. I liked how the stories found a way to connect with each other and I really liked his new partner as well. I am glad that I read the latest Bosch book. Was it his best - no. Was it so bad you shouldn't listen - no. If you have read all of the others you owe it to yourself to continue the series.
This is the first Nora Roberts book I can't get past the first hour. It is just awful. The narration (which I never complain about) is so bad, the writing is bad...I am just glad I only paid $5.00 for it. Makes the pain a little less painful...
I have listened to hundreds of books and it is very rare for me to choose to stop listening mid-book. It got to the point where I was shaking my head saying "let's see - he is going to do so something else he shouldn't do so they think he is guilty". I couldn't stand it anymore. I just don't care how it ends...cause if it was up to me - with the choices he made in the book - I would find him guilty and put him away myself. What a waste of a good credit.
I fell in love with the characters instantly. I thought the story was great and felt a sense of loss when it ended. I will actually miss listening. I thought the narrator was perfect and could not wait to get in my car and continue to listen.
I try not to give negative reviews but the narration on this book was just so bad it made it hard to listen to the story. I truly hope that the third and final book will have a different narrator. The story was ok - somewhat predictable but I am such a Nora Roberts fan she can do no wrong...
After just reading The Shining for the first time then going straight to Doctor Sleep it was a fun ride indeed. Doctor Sleep did exactly what I need an audio book to do...make me not want to get out of the car when I get home and look forward to getting in the car the following morning to listen some more. The story was great. Just when I thought I had figured something out I was surprised all over again. I just finished the book and am already sad because I will miss listening on the way home. I truly loved this book.
I feel cheated out of a credit. This book was a struggle to get through. I thought about quitting 3 or 4 times. The story was weak. The love story was over the top and not to be believed and the ending was even worse. Don't waste your time on this.
This book is so bad I had to stop listening and give up a credit. I don't think I have ever done that. The voice for Gideon is awful. There is no story. I gave it 3 chapters and am throwing in the towel. Don't waste your money
