The way it ended--I did not see that 'solution' coming. It left me with more questions!
when the lightening flashed and they saw the hand.
Probably the dump guy. He was too much!
ANY Stephen King book is good! This one, though short, is great!
Yes--I loved the story, and the man reading is has a fantastic voice.
The pace! Fast and yet detailed.
It was and I would have if I could have!
Although this was written by Stephen King, if I hadn't known this, I wouldn't have known this by listening to it! This book is not his style at all, which honestly is I why bought it in the first place. I am a fan of King! But there is no horror, no ghosts, no unworldly beings or events. Darn it all! I was disappointed. However, as a thriller, I was quite pleased with it! Interesting, funny and sad and everything I love in a book.
It has to be the Mountain Man himself!
It was--I had to break it into three days, and it was torture!
This is a well-written and interesting story of survival (or not surviving) in 2025, 2 years into the zombie Apocalypse. Told with humor and drama and zombie bashing and the joys of finding toilet paper. Oh, and there is a serial killer on the loose in this new blasted wasteland!
Probably not, as it just wasn't Dean Koontzy enough for me.
His voice is lovely!
this is an ok book, but it just didn't do it for me.
What wasn't? Ok--narrowing it down, I really liked that crazy lady in the hospital.
His reading brought the characters to life.
yes, and I did--and I plan to listen to it again!
It is riveting! I never knew there were so many things I thought were true that aren't true!
It makes me incredulous. I kept saying "What! You're kidding!"
The reader is a bit dry, but don't let that put you off. The book is a lot of fun!
Way Too Complicated
sure--it wasn't badly written and made me laugh a few times.
Sonjay--he was the one thread that held it all together.
No matter what genre you like, it is in this book. No, seriously! Do you like intrigue? Ok--terroists! and Homeland Security. Do you like sci-fy? Giant bugs! and not just giant bugs, but giant MUTATED BEDBUGS! And how did they get mutated? How about leaking radiation! woot! Science! We also have an FBI sting (police procedural), prostitutes (sex and cops), video cameras and live streaming (of porn), bikers, wife-beaters and low-life scum of every sort, plus a secret hidden room with secret hidden cash and secret hidden bodies. Oh! Horror is represented too--those giant bedbugs can liquify a body within minutes. LIQ-QUI-FY! AS in MELT your into a puddle of goo. And then the chambermaids get to clean it up. Lucky lucky them. We have a woman released from prison two years before she is even eligible for parole--and frankly, I never did learn exactly why for that. Oh, there is just so much more, so much much more! Listen to it closely, because it is so chock-full of stuff you might have to (as I did) backtrack to figure out what the heck is going on.
Yes, I sure will! I love the characters--Barbara, Lynley, all of them!
When poor Barbara had to go shopping!
I would recommend ANY of George's books--but this one was really great on a pile of great books!
around the middle.
None of them--couldn't really engage.
sort of 'meh' The reader tried too hard and it intruded on the book itself, at times. The story was fairly interesting, but I doubt I'll listen to it again.
Probably in the top 20.
the children in Christmas town!!
She doesn't try to inject drama, and she does a great job on both men's and women's voices.
Oh, for sure Mr. Christmas!
I highly recommend this book to anyone--lovely to listen to, excellent story, and just plain edge of the seat!
this book was way too long. every time I thought the story was wrapped up and over--it just jumped on to more. It could have been way shorter and more entertaining.
