A good book allows the imagination to create wondrous images that no special effect ever could. Characters become like treasured friends.

This no-holds-barred autobiography chronicles the remarkable life of Phil Robertson, the original Duck Commander and Duck Dynasty star, from early childhood through the founding of a family business. Life was always getting in the way of Phil Robertson’s passion for duck hunting. An NFL-bound quarterback, Phil made his mark on Louisiana Tech University in the 1960s by playing football and completing his college career with a master’s degree in English. But Phil’s eyes were not always on the books or the ball; they were usually looking to the sky....

Would you consider the audio edition of Happy, Happy, Happy to be better than the print version?

I enjoyed them both. Listening to Al narrate the story in a voice with the same cadence as his father was like listening to Phil a few years younger.

What other book might you compare Happy, Happy, Happy to and why?

Not one I can think of at this time. This being one man's life story it may have contained similar experiences another may have had, but it was purely his own.

What does Al Robertson and Phil Robertson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Listening to the voice of Al made me feel I was listening to a younger Phil.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It was and I did. I downloaded it to my droid and clipped it to my shirt and cleaned my entire house as I listened.

    Any additional comments?

I have come to admire this entire family for it values. God, Family and Country. Something sorely missing in today's world - old fashioned (if you want to call them that) maybe, but when we had them life was better.

Set in a small-town North Carolina amusement park in 1973, Joyland tells the story of the summer in which college student Devin Jones comes to work as a carny and confronts the legacy of a vicious murder, the fate of a dying child, and the ways both will change his life forever. Joyland is a brand-new novel and has never previously been published.

Would you listen to Joyland again? Why?

Yes - It brings to mind the thrill I felt when I first discovered him back in the beginning before anyone had heard of him. Classic King style. This story has a strong beginning a middle and an end. It kept me wanting more of the story and when not able to listen I was thinking how, when, where, who done it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Devin (Jonesy) Jones our lead is a full bodied character. We can relate to him from childhood to the passage that leads him to becoming a man. He has a goodness and pure heart we want to love. Then there is Mike who we come to care for greatly a very young, yet very old wise boy who along with Devin become our dynamic duo.

What does Michael Kelly bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

A voice bringing the story to life. Leading my imagination to dream up clear sharp images of the park and people in 3d vivid colors, smells and sounds. I can see our cast playing scrabble in the parlor or riding thru the haunted house. I was with Devin as he walked thru hoping to see the ghost of the murdered girl.

Who was the most memorable character of Joyland and why?

Jonesy our main man. He could be someone I know or hang out with. He is a real person with all the faults we have and compassionate and understanding of those around him.

  • Doctor Sleep: A Novel

Stephen King returns to the characters and territory of one of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in this instantly riveting novel about the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the very special 12-year-old girl he must save from a tribe of murderous paranormals. This is an epic war between good and evil, a gory, glorious story that will thrill the millions of hyper-devoted fans of The Shining and wildly satisfy anyone new to the territory of this icon in the King canon.

What did you love best about Doctor Sleep?

This story made me feel like I did when I read my first few King books. I did not want to put it down.

What did you like best about this story?

I knew as I started reading who it was and loved that he was being brought back to finish his story started so long ago. I have been wanting that to happen for a long time. With a master storyteller like King I had a clear picture of how his life was for the last 20 odd years in the blink of a few pages and thoroughly enjoyed watching him finally see his full potential and true self shine through.

What about Will Patton’s performance did you like?

Wonderful job! I knew which character was speaking without a thought. His voice led my imagination from scene to scene in vivid color seeing each person in my minds eye as if they were standing in front of me.

    Any additional comments?

!!A GREAT READ FROM BEGINNING TO END!!
