It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

It started out good. I love how she explains her understanding of vibrational frequency and how it's out there in life looking for a match. There were several points where she started to sound preachy and it was hard not to wander off mentally. I felt like it was contradictory to what she was trying to advocate throughout her book on trying to stay on a positive frequency. I'll have to listen to certain parts again because of it. She kind of lost me later on in the book.

Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. "Jess and Jason," she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost. And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel offers what she knows to the police, and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next, as well as in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good? Compulsively readable, The Girl on the Train is an emotionally immersive, Hitchcockian thriller and an electrifying debut.

Definitely didn't see it coming, the story had twists and turns and was good at making you detest some of its characters. Good story, good plot. I enjoyed the narrators. I'm not a big fan of non fiction but I listened to the while book in about a day and a half, inspired me to look into more non fiction.

Despite constant efforts to declutter your home, do papers still accumulate like snowdrifts and clothes pile up like a tangled mess of noodles?Japanese cleaning consultant Marie Kondo takes tidying to a whole new level, promising that if you properly simplify and organize your home once, you'll never have to do it again. Most methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, which doom you to pick away at your piles of stuff forever.

Practical and inspiring. I love her approach to tidying. It practices gratitude for your possessions, whether they inspired joy or not. It also makes the act of De-cluttering simpler and easier to handle. I'll definitely use it for reference.

"Life changes fast....You sit down to dinner and life as you know it ends." These were among the first words Joan Didion wrote in January 2004. Her daughter was lying unconscious in an intensive care unit, a victim of pneumonia and septic shock. Her husband, John Gregory Dunne, was dead. The night before New Year's Eve, while they were sitting down to dinner, he suffered a massive and fatal coronary. The two had lived and worked side by side for nearly 40 years.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely. Its a sophisticated blend of memoir and satire.

What did you like best about this story?

It was my first book by the author. It took me by surprise because at the time I was more a fan of his sister Amys work. I purchased the book because it was on CNNs 100 books to read in your life time and I had the extra credit.

What does David Sedaris bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He's wonderful at narration. A real pro. It helps that his profession is in entertainment, but his deliverance and performance is so on point. His impression of Amy on the phone with her father reciting lines from television novellas is something I wouldve missed out had I just read the book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, absolutely. I do a lot of driving for work and it took me a day and a half to finish the book. I never wanted it to end.

    Any additional comments?

    Get this book.

I look forward to his other books. And they all have such great ratings.

  • Breakfast at Tiffany's

Golden Globe-winning actor Michael C. Hall (Dexter, Six Feet Under) performs Truman Capote's masterstroke about a young writer's charmed fascination with his unorthodox neighbor, the "American geisha" Holly Golightly. Holly - a World War II-era society girl in her late teens - survives via socialization, attending parties and restaurants with men from the wealthy upper class who also provide her with money and expensive gifts. Over the course of the novella, the seemingly shallow Holly slowly opens up to the curious protagonist.

What did you love best about Breakfast at Tiffany's?

I loved the narration. Im not a fan of Dexter, only because ive never watched it, but thats besides the point Michael C Hall did wonderful narration to a timeless classic. I loved that it was like the movie but so not like the movie, perhaps because as the recording was playing I visualized the lovely ms. Hepburn in a somewhat directors cut of the movie in my head.

Have you listened to any of Michael C. Hall’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to any of Mr. Halls other recordings if he indeed has any. His performance was great. His portrayal of Ms. Golightly is amusing.

Who was the most memorable character of Breakfast at Tiffany's and why?

You know to be honest, for me it was Ms. Golightlys nosy neighbor who is not mentioned anywhere in the film. She was such a b****. I wouldve cocked her one.

    Any additional comments?

Get this book! For the price? Its a steal.
