Where does Fifty Shades Darker rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    Right up there!

Would you listen to another book narrated by Becca Battoe?

Never!! I loved this story, but I have to agree with many others that her narration is awful. I go through at least an audiobook every week, so I think I'm a good judge of this. She made Ana sound like a Valley Girl, and her male voices sound absolutely phoney and unbelievable. Lucky for her that these books are such a great read, but unfortunately she really detracts from a more enjoyable read.

Hayat Shah was captivated by Mina long before he met her: his mother's beautiful, brilliant, and soulfully devout friend is a family legend. When he learns that Mina is leaving Pakistan to live with the Shahs in America, Hayat is thrilled. Hayat's father is less enthusiastic. He left the fundamentalist world behind with reason. What no one expects is that when Mina shows Hayat the beauty and power of the Quran, it will utterly transform the boy.

    One of my top favorites.

    Any additional comments?

I love to read books that expand my worldview by taking me inside another culture. This was a very engrossing, well-written and narrated story, and I loved it. I read and listen to audiobooks a lot on my travels, and I'd definitely recommend this one to others!

Over five years in the writing, Alice Hoffman’s most ambitious and mesmerizing work ever, a triumph of imagination and research set in ancient Israel. The author of such iconic bestsellers as Illumination Night, Practical Magic, Fortune’s Daughter, and Oprah’s Book Club selection Here on Earth, Alice Hoffman is one of the most popular and memorable writers of her generation. Now, in The Dovekeepers, Hoffman delivers her most masterful work yet - one that draws on her passion for mythology, magic, and archaeology and her inimitable understanding of women.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the weaving of history and the very well-drawn characters in this book. I did not know much at all about what had actually happened at Masada (I'd heard of the term, but did not know what had taken place there), and this totally brought that story to life and I learned so much about it. It's such a beautiful piece of literature, I loved everything about this book. The narration was absolutely superb. A definite must to read!
