Victorian romance mixes seamlessly with elegant prose and biting wit—and werewolves—in Gail Carriger’s delightful debut novel. Soulless introduces Alexia Tarabotti, a parasol-wielding Londoner getting dangerously close to spinster status. But there are more important things than finding a husband. For Alexia was born without a soul, giving her the ability to render any vampire or werewolf completely powerless.

What did you love best about Soulless?

Weir wolves, vampires, mad sciencetists, and a heroin who manages them all with white gloves and impecable manners. The storey was unexpectly delightful; totally engaging; with enough grit to keep it from being syrupy. In a catagory that's become a little predictable, Gail Carriger has created a new slant that delivers both punch and humor.
As the narrater Emily Gray is the perfect voice of sophistacation, with just enough dialect to add flavor, but not so much that clarity is lost on the American ear. We all know a good reader makes or breaks an audio book, and in this case the reader is perfect.
I can't wait to download the next installment of Miss Tarrabody's adventures.
