I absolutely loved this book and the one before it!!! Tami Hoag came up with some characters for this 2 book series that are just stupendous. I hope she continues to write more books involving them - it would be a real shame to just abandon such a great set of characters and a great setting. I would gladly pay full price at a book store for this audiobook and the one before it (Deeper than the Dead) so don't hesitate to use a credit on it. I could not stop listening once I started it and stayed up till nearly 3 am to finish it!!! Go for it, this is great!!
This second installment in the Stella Hardesty - middleaged mama mystery series is another winner as far as I'm concerned. Though it did not move the side story of Stella and Sheriff Goat Jones along as satisfyingly as I would have liked it still kept me interested and enthralled throughout the book. She (Stella) is one tough lady and can handle most anything with her usual "I aint gonna take no sh... from nobody" attitude and her Ozark mountain brand of wisdom. She's a real treat! I have already bought and listened to the 3rd book in the series (another success) but all I have to say to Sophie Littlefied is "Keep 'em coming!!!"
I can't say it enough! I absolutely, positively loved the Aisling Gray series! I hope the author comes out with more of them. Drake and Aisling are just too, too funny and when they're not making you laugh the air around them sizzles with the heat between them. The plots of each book in the series are interesting, fastpaced and never boring!! I laughed out loud so many times my young daughter thought I was nuts! If you like funny, heated, fast paced paranormal romances --you'll love this one and the whole series! Read them in order though to get the full effect!!
The author did a much better job of building the tension and suspense earlier in this book than the first in the series which dragged in parts in my opinion. I still liked the first book overall even with its faults and the narrator took a bit of time to get used to but her voice finally grew on me and I came to like it in the end. This second book though moves more quickly and gets more involved in answering the lingering questions from the first. Though there are more questions left to ponder for book 3 in the series this book did a good job of completing an important part of the story while still leaving you hanging for the next part. I have already purchased the third book and am preparing to listen to it right away. Definitely this book was worth the credit spent on it but to understand the whole story you really should start at the beginning with book 1 "Dead by Midnight".
I wasn't sure about this one when I picked it out and I have to admit that the narrator's voice irked me a little at first but I gradually not only grew used to it but began to like it. Now I can't imagine Stella Hardesty sounding any other way!!! The storyline is intriguing and kept me interested the whole time. I wish things had moved a little faster with Sheriff Goat Jones but it gives you something to look forward to in the next book. Can't wait to listen to book 2 - I just purchased it!!!
I loved the first book in the series, A Quick Bite, but this one is almost as good. The Argenau family is a great cast of characters and makes for an interesting continuing storyline. I hope the author continues and that each book is as good or better than the last!
This series is one of the best of it's kind - I never really got into "vampire" books before this but this series convinced me they can be great. The plots are interesting and evolving from book to book yet retains its continuity throughout the series. Cat and her husband Bones are two of the most creative characters I have come across in my reading of the last few years and I can truly say I have enjoyed these books more than a thousand others I have read in the last few years. I sincerely hope the author plans to continue with a "once in a lifetime cast of characters" since the plots can be varied infinitely to keep interest high. Definitely a keeper in my opinion!!
I was hooked from the first - and it only got better. This has everything and really made me laugh at times till I cried. Jim is just too much. And Wow! the sizzles between Aisling and Drake made my toes curl. The narrator did an excellent job with all the voices but Drake's and Aisling's were perfect! I could picture Drake almost from the voice she gave him alone. I already downloaded the next three and have listened to them as well and let me tell you it only gets better!!!
This was just too funny and clever and (howlingly) romantic! Kept me interested and entertained the entire time - in fact I had trouble getting my work done while listening. Cant wait to listen to the next one!
I wasn't sure about this book when I chose it because I'm not really a vampire kind of reader but I was hooked after only a few minutes! It was alternatingly sad, funny, romantic, suspenseful and really just totally delicious listening. I'm definitely getting the next one!
