Interesting characters, well read and engaging with a wonderful ending.
Although I first read this book many years ago and had fond memories of it I found with this listen that the characters generally were were annoying and pointless, particulalry the central character. I was unable to finish it as I got bored.
Well worth listening. This appears, at the beginning, to be a shallow tale of a swashbuckler but develops into something far more complex, sinister and surprising with an excellent conclusion.
Liked this book very much but was disappointed that there was no sequel available as this is clearly not the end. Still worth listening to.
This is currently the last in this series but there is clearly more to come. Wonderful to listen to. A real joy. Don't miss it.
Robin Hobb is a brilliant writer and it's a real joy to listen to her stories. If you enjoy fantasy fiction this is one you must not miss. This is the second in a series of 3.
Loved this book. I listen to a lot of books but found this story and the characters quite addictive and immediately bought the rest of the series. I am only sorry, devastated in fact, that although Amercian readers can get Robin Hobbs other books on audible I, in the UK, currrently can't. I live in hope and in the meantime have had to resort to buying the written books!
The story starts a little slow and you might start to think the characters are too boring to bother with - this changes. Well worth a listen.
My first listen to a book by Bryce Courtenay. A really good listen with characters you will care about from beginning to end. Reader Humphrey Bower is a real treat. His reading enhances any book. Not to be missed.
Absolutely brilliant book. Highly entertaining as well as informative and historical.
