  • Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 21 mins)
    • By Marcus Luttrell, Patrick Robinson
    • Narrated By Kevin Collins
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Four US Navy SEALS departed one clear night in early July, 2005 for the mountainous Afghanistan-Pakistan border for a reconnaissance mission. Their task was to document the activity of an al Qaeda leader rumored to have a small army in a Taliban stronghold. Five days later, only one of those Navy SEALS made it out alive. This is the story of the only survivor of Operation Redwing, SEAL team leader Marcus Luttrell, and the extraordinary firefight that led to the largest loss of life in American Navy SEAL history.

Amazon Customer says: "True Tale of Courage and Honor"
"God bless the few men like these."

I cannot begin to review this story, for I am not worthy of doing so. These men are the antithesis of American force, brotherhood and honor. Faced with an impossibly complex choice these "characters" chose the life of another over their own and paid dearly for it. This is simply the most epic tale of men in combat I have ever read or heard of. I've read the book three times and now have listened to it twice. May the dead rest easy and the living honor their names. Read the follow up book by Marcus, Service, and support the soldiers afar and those who come home. Saying they fight for us sounds trite but it truly is what they do. Good on ya luttrell and god bless.

  • Open Season: A Joe Pickett Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 49 mins)
    • By C. J. Box
    • Narrated By David Chandler
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

C.J. Box’s Open Season is a rare debut mystery that “immediately sets itself apart from the crowd” (Booklist). This thrilling novel stars Joe Pickett, a game warden in Wyoming who finds his life in danger after he looks into a murder investigation and discovers a conspiracy involving an oil pipeline and its threat to an endangered species.

Bob says: "The start of an adventure!"
    "Not your average hero"

Open Season was an entertaining if predictable book. Whats refreshing is that the lead character is not your typical hero. He's not an ex secret service, special ops bad ass. In fact hes kind of a bumbler. Its refreshing to hear a more plausible story line.
