Working behind the scenes for 18 months, Bob Woodward has written the most intimate and sweeping portrait of President Obama making the critical decisions on the Afghanistan War, the secret war in Pakistan, and the worldwide fight against terrorism.

I'll admit, prior to reading this book, I didn't understand what was taking the president so long to decide on how to handle Afghanistan. This book very clearly explains the process that Obama forced our military and political leaders through. He very clearly and rationaly set the agenda and did his job. Of course there are always many sides to every story, so it is difficult to know whom to believe. As an independant voter I am no Obama supporter. However, if what was written in this book is true, then I have a new respect for our president and his handling of our troop deployment to Afghanistan.

In the years since 9/11, the U.S. war on terror has focused on al-Qaeda, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Coverage of Iran has been devoted almost exclusively to its nuclear ambitions. Yet, as Ronen Bergman's groundbreaking reporting in this vital investigative history reveals, for 30 years, Iran has been the world's leading sponsor of global terror and stands as the most formidable sponsor of terror in the world today.

Christopher says: "More about Hezbollah and Hamas, little about Iran"
    "Important Read"
    Overall

Iran is ground zero of the current problems in the Middle East. They hate us, and won't stop unitl one of us are done. If you want to be informed, and understand why we are fighting in that region, then read this.

For years, ex–Navy SEAL Maxwell Moore has worked across the Middle East and behind the scenes for the Special Activities Division of the CIA, making connections, extracting valuable intelligence, and facing off against America’s enemies at every turn. And then...news of a potentially devastating coalition: What if two of the greatest threats to the security of the United States were to form an unholy alliance?

    Jean says: "Against All Enemies"
    "Good but not great Clancy"
    Overall

Clancey still has Ryan and Clark but he merged them together into one character named Moore. Having one guy do everything makes this read more like a James Bond novel. It needed more character development, and the kind of technical detail that makes Clancy books worth reading.

This New York Times best-seller is the astonishing life story of award-winning humanitarian Ayaan Hirsi Ali. A deeply respected advocate for free speech and women's rights, Hirsi Ali also lives under armed protection because of her outspoken criticism of the Islamic faith in which she was raised.

Teddy says: "A Story that Needed to be Told"
    "Truely Heroic and Inspirational"
    Overall

Ayaan's message is one that we must hear and pass on. We in the West must understand what we are up against. We must get involved, if not our apathy and ignorance will be our own undoing. By ignorance, I mean hearing and seeing news about these religiously sanctioned abuses in our own country and then actively ignoring them. I find it impossoible to fathom that this is our contemporary history. These things are happening under our watch, while we live and breathe and do nothing. In my opinion she has earned a special place in the history of the human race. She is almost like a time traveler in that she has come from a culture locked in the past with a message that will alter our future. Thank you Ayaan keep up the fight.
