  • When God Weeps: Why Our Sufferings Matter to the Almighty

    • ABRIDGED (2 hrs and 38 mins)
    • By Joni Eareckson Tada, Steven Estes
    • Narrated By Joni Eareckson Tada

If God is loving, why is there suffering? What's the difference between permitting something and ordaining it? When bad things happen, who's behind them, God or the Devil? When suffering touches our lives it often doesn't make sense, especially when we believe in a loving and just God. In this poignant audiobook, Joni Eareckson Tada, a quadriplegic for over 30 years, describes her personal experience with suffering and provides her special understanding of God's intentions for us in our pain. The author reveals a God big enough to understand our suffering, wise enough to allow it, and powerful enough to use it for a greater good than we can ever imagine.

    N. Brown says: "Wow"
"What if Jesus doesn't heal you???"

Gnarly book about what happens when Jesus wants you to not get better.

    Ask and you shall receive???

Asks a lot of tough questions about why God inflicts suffering on the world and church instead of healing us like when he walked the earth.

I guess we'll figure it out at the second coming.

I've listened to this book now at work about 5 times.

    Excellent work.

    Thought provoking.

  • The New Psycho-Cybernetics

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 47 mins)
    • By Maxwell Maltz edited by Dan S. Kennedy
    • Narrated By Paul Michael

Since its publication in 1960, Dr. Maltz's seminal text has inspired more than 30 million readers to enhance their lives and achieve life-changing goals - from losing weight to excelling in sports to dramatically increasing their income. Now revised for a new millennium, The New Psycho-Cybernetics remains true to Dr. Maltz's visionary approach and proven groundbreaking techniques.

Janie says: "Better than a 5!"

Interesting that a plastic surgeon would be the one to figure out the keys to happiness and success in the mental realm.

Every book I've read about NLP and reprogramming the subconscious seems to have its roots in this book.

I hope Maltz's other books will be available on Audio Book here soon.

  • Secret Message of Jesus: Uncovering the Truth that Could Change Everything

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 20 mins)
    • By Brian McLaren
    • Narrated By Paul Michael
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

In The Secret Message of Jesus, McLaren clears away the dust of 2,000 years of the Christian religion to get to the most important questions facing Christendom: Could it be that the church has misunderstood or, in some cases, intentionally distorted Jesus' core message?

    Joseph says: "What's the Secret???"
    "What's the Secret???"

If "The Secret" of Jesus was explained in this book it was so diluted that nothing sticks in my mind as to what it may have been.

Just because the bible is long and cryptic doesn't mean that books about the bible should be.

In my quest to learn how to stop sinning I'm not sure that this book helped at all.

    Very wordy and diluted.

Judging by my harsh review I'm guessing it didn't help me at all. :(

  • New Testament: New Revised Standard Version

    • UNABRIDGED (18 hrs and 44 mins)
    • By Various

Rooted in the past, but right for today, the NRSV continues the tradition of William Tyndale, the King James Version, the American Standard Version, and the Revised Standard Version. Equally important, it sets a new standard for the 21st century. The NRSV stands out among the many translations because it is "as literal as possible" in adhering to the ancient texts and only "as free as necessary" to make the meaning clear in graceful, understandable English.

    Firebird says: "Great Audiobook"
"I just finished going through the Koran and..."

If you have spiritual antennae this is such a beautiful book.

Instead of killing people we are to be living sacrifices.

Instead of fighting wars we are to turn the other cheek.

    Bless those who curse us.

    Love Love Love.

    And don't sin.

    Love it.

  • Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God

    • UNABRIDGED (4 hrs and 21 mins)
    • By Francis Chan
    • Narrated By Francis Chan
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

"When people gladly sacrifice their time or comfort or home, it is obvious that they trust in the promises of God. Why is it that the story of someone who has actually done what Jesus commands resonates deeply with us, but we then assume we could never do anything so radical or intense? Or why do we call it radical when, to Jesus, it is simply the way it is? The way it should be?"

    JustDeb says: "Life Changing"
    "I've thought of this before..."

What if people actually did what Jesus said? What a concept.

Sell your fancy houses and cars and feed the poor.

    This book rocks.

Instead of teaching people to try and be nice it teaches them to actually do what Jesus said.

    Love it!

  • Dante's Inferno (Dramatised)

    • ORIGINAL (49 mins)
    • By Dante Alighieri
    • Narrated By Corin Redgrave

This original and refreshingly different dramatisation follows Dante, "lost in a dark wood", who is met by Virgil, who takes him on a tour of the underworld: a place he could end up if he decides to take his own life. Corin Redgrave is the voice of Dante.

    Joseph says: "Dante's Inferno"
    "Dante's Inferno"

Humans boiling in human feces eternally.

Boy God sure is a barrel of laughs.

Good soundtrack to play on your front lawn during halloween.

Also the source of most of todays "Hell" teachings.

Good work Dante - you scared the bejesus out of everyone who doesn't read their bibles or have spiritual antennaes.

  • The Koran

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 40 mins)
    • By Trout Lake Media
    • Narrated By Alec Sand

The Koran is not only one of the most influential books of prophetic literature but also a literary masterpiece in it’s own right. Universally accepted by Muslims to be the infallible Word of God as revealed to Mohammed by the Angel Gabriel nearly 1,400 years ago, the Koran still provides the rules of conduct fundamental to the Arab way of life.

Thomas says: "A Clear and Sober Reading"
"I finally decided to read the Koran"

I always hear on the news how it's a book about peace and love.

    Not even close.

The Old Testament and Testament are Cryptic but point to a time when man will love one another and sin and tears will be done away with.

The Koran allows men to beat their wives (but not kill them because God is merciful) and chop of thieves hands and feet (but not kill them because God is merciful).

If that's what God is like then I was born in the wrong universe. This God is sadistic and cruel.

  • Get the Life You Want: The Secrets to Quick and Lasting Life Change with Neuro-Linguistic Programming

    • UNABRIDGED (4 hrs and 58 mins)
    • By Richard Bandler
    • Narrated By Mark Morgann
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When people and therapists alike have a problem they can't fix, they call Richard Bandler because he delivers--often with miraculous results. Hailed as one of the greatest geniuses in the field of personal change, and the father of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Richard Bandler has helped tens of thousands of people around the globe rid themselves of 'incurable' phobias, fears, anxieties, addictions, negative habits, and past traumas often in a single session.

Julia says: "Essential portions are omitted in the audiobook"
"I've Studied This for years but still clueless..."

I bought a muscle building book that uses NLP to get great workouts and quit scarfing and wanted to get a book from the source: Bandler.

I get the concepts better now but man would I like to have lunch with the author and have him explain it me in normal human language.

    Modalities/Submodalities Anchoring.

I feel like I'm learning language for a military operation.

    The book flew by though!

  • The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists

    • ABRIDGED (9 hrs and 30 mins)
    • By Neil Strauss
    • Narrated By Neil Strauss

Hidden somewhere, in nearly every major city in the world, is an underground seduction lair. And in these lairs, men trade the most devastatingly effective techniques ever invented to charm women. This is not fiction. These men really exist. They live together in houses known as Projects. And Neil Strauss, the best-selling author, spent two years living among them, using the pseudonym Style to protect his real-life identity. The result is one of the most explosive and controversial books of the year.

Saud says: "An Interesting Trip Through the Culture"
    "Really excellent book."

Interesting how PUA's become so good at scamming and can't relate to women once they fall in love.
I'd never thought of that angle.
Highly recommend this to guys who are envious of rock stars and millionaires surrounded by models.
    It's got it's problems too.

  • Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God

    • UNABRIDGED (44 mins)
    • By Jonathan Edwards
    • Narrated By Max McLean

Sinners in the Hands of Angry God is considered the most famous sermon ever preached in American history. Jonathan Edwards delivered this message on July 8, 1741, in Enfield, Connecticut. Many who heard it trembled and cried out for mercy. Others fainted. Five hundred people were converted that day.

Louis says: "A Sermon of the Great Mercy of God"
"Too bad the word 'HELL' isn't even in the bible."

Hell Hell Hell Hell Hell. Only problem is Hell isn't in origianl scriptures. It was added by Catholics in the Latin Vulgate and mistranslated in the King James.

Gehenna, Hades, and Tartarus are the actual words translated "hell" in the King James version and none of them is an eternal place to torture souls.

And Deu 4:24 say that "God is the consuming fire".

So God is "hell" and as we draw near to him he burns off the flesh (Adamic nature) from us.

That's why it's dangerous to read the bible literally instead of spiritually.

Okay Mr. Edwards repeat after me:

    God is Love.
    God is Love.
    God is Love.
    God is Love.
    God is Love.
    God is Love.

Good lesson on how NOT to read the bible.

Makes God sound like Saddam Hussein except worse because he tortures people for EVER!
