If you’re into books with steam, romance and bad boy MMA fighters… you’ll definitely like this one! The story begins with Olivia finally kicking her loser, cheating long time boyfriend to the curb. She decides to swear of men but it doesn't last long. She goes to her dad's gym and finds herself suddenly enthralled by a man oozing sex appeal. This man is a hot MMA fighter working his way towards becoming pro. They have insta attraction but Seth makes it known from the beginning that he doesn't do relationships. However, he is drawn to this sweet good girl and can't stay away. Seth is still hesitant to commit to Olivia but you watch his feelings gradually start changing. Seth & Olivia were super HOT together. I loved the sexy times and the fight scenes. Seth was definitely a swoon worthy bad boy turned one woman lovin’ sex god. You can't help but fall in love with him. I would have liked to learn more about his dark past. Perhaps that will be explored further in the sequel. All in all, I enjoyed Consumed. It was relatively low on the angst which was appreciated. Instead the focus was on Seth and Olivia's relationship growing into something beautiful in the midst of change, heart-ache and tragedy. This book is told completely from Olivia's POV with the exception of the Epilogue. I'm looking forward to the next book once Audible makes it available.
Let me just start off by saying that I’m a sucker for story with a classic yet beautiful plot about two broken people who help heal each other. The only requirement I have with these types of stories is it must have something unique that sets itself apart from the others. I can't stand a book that has no depth. I don't want to waste my time on a forgettable book! Clipped Wings without a doubt is NOT forgettable! There was just something about it that worked for me and it definitely stands out. These characters, Hayden and Tenley, don't have just your typical clichéd tragic romance that you tend to see in a lot of books. No, they were much deeper and heartbreaking. Helena Hunting created an emotionally charged love story that even with all the heartache had blissful moments of pure deliciousness. It's told from both Hayden & Tenley's perspectives in alternating chapters, it allows the listener to feel the emotions while following the thoughts of both characters. At 25yrs old, Hayden Stryker has already lived a full life. Once addicted to drugs, alcohol and sex, he's now got his life straightened out, working his own tattoo business Inked Armor. For weeks he's been enthralled by the new girl (Tenley) working in his aunt's used bookstore/coffee shop across the street. He can’t explain what it is about this scared mouse that intrigues him and how to get her to trust him enough for a conversation. Hayden, his past is not pretty. He's done things he regrets, but he's changed his life. He knows all about loss/pain and that is exactly what he sees reflected when he looks at Tenley. He has this desire to help fix her even though he can't even fix himself. Tenley Page is enrolled in a master's program at Northwestern University. After a tragic accident over ten months ago, she wants her life back on track. She struggles with horrific nightmares due to the secrets that continue to terrorize her. Tenley is convinced that getting a large tattoo on her back will help her cope with the pain she's been through. So begin a shaky friendship between Hayden & Tenley. Even though the attraction is obvious both seem to refrain from giving into the temptation. This becomes more difficult when Tenley finally decides to display her pain through the ink of a tattoo, there is only one man that she wants to do it. Her piece is complex and dark, showcasing just how deep her scars go. Henley knows that giving her this won't fix what's broken, but he understand the emotion release that comes with it. The only hiccup, this tattoo is going to take at least two months to complete. Two months of him touching her in private, two months of her pain being exposed and brought to the surface. Hayden can't seem to stop himself when it comes to wanting Tenley. He wants her to open up, wants to know her. Exposing his own pain in an effort to gain her trust. Hayden's troubled past is something he too can never forget, ashamed of how he chose to deal with it all, haunts him to this day. His past is never far from causing problems especially now that he finally found someone good to share his future with. He lives his life in control order for a reason but where Tenley is concerned he feels he has none. When their relationship goes beyond client & artist it is clear that they both need each other to help fill the emptiness that has been lurking for so long. Their need for one another is primal and deeper than any connection either of them have experienced before. These two together really are quite a pair!! Him fearless, impulsive and overwhelming with OCD tendencies and her being shy, emotionally unstable and completely lost. Even with these issues they both have an undeniable connection & extreme attraction to each other, fortunately, this story never turned into insta-love. (Sometimes the "insta-love" factor can become too cheesy and makes the story unbelievable which can ruin a book for me). Their fascination with each other was electric and at times very HOT! Hayden, swoon. This man is pure heaven. Just a bit of an alpha, but only with her. There was some definite sexy times in this book. At times, the banter between them was entertaining which helped keep a balance to the otherwise more depressive & heartbreaking parts in this the book.
Overall, Clipped Wings was an emotional love story about two people who are perfect for each other but kept apart by their own secrets. Wanting to be enough for each other, hoping that even though they are broken, together they can be complete. Knowing that they have to come to terms with their own past before they can help each other. Everything was nicely balanced and this book kept the right amount of intrigue to keep you engaged. The one downside, was the cliffhanger at the end. Worthy a credit? HELLZ YA IT IS!!
All I have to say is this book is full of the typical KA fun - there are kidnappings, car chases, steamy bedroom scenes, swoony moments, outright hilarious moments, drag queen performances, shoot-outs, explosions, a seriously epic food-fight, a kickass heroine, and one SEXY AS HELL alpha male, and of course, a wonderful love story. I loved every character in this book... Indy, Lee, Ally, Tex, Todd, Duke, the whole entire crew!! So many LOL moments. I'm definitely rating 5 stars because Rock Chick deserves nothing less!
My Unexpected Forever is the second book in the Beaumont series. I recommend you complete the first book in the series before starting this one. This sequel was a beautiful, emotional story about love and healing. It was never rushed and focused just as much on family bonding as it did on romance. It was both sexy and heartwarming. Seriously, there's just something about a bad boy rocker who is also a loving, caring dad that is absolutely heart melting!! The story here follows Harrison, the drummer in Liam's band who since moving to Beaumont has found himself drawn to Katelyn. He's been a single dad ever since he was surprised with a three day old son on his door step and ever since that day he's devoted himself to be the best dad he could be for Quinn. He wasn't looking for anyone, but sometimes love is unexpected like that. But Katelyn is still mourning the sudden death of her beloved husband, Mason, who she had been with since she was 15. His loss left a giant hole in their lives and she's not yet ready to offer her heart to anyone else. Not to mention that with his tattoos and rock star life, Harrison is the polar opposite of Mason and just not her 'type'. But Harrison understood that and was willing to wait for her. He knew she needed time and didn't want to rush her in to anything despite desperately wanting more. But the more she tries to ignore her feelings & convince herself that he’s just a playboy musician like so many others, the more she knows him, the more she realizes that is not true and her feelings grow even more. So, when the band goes on tour, their families all join in. Liam, Josie and Noah go, as well as Harrison and Quinn, and, as their new manager, Katelyn is also on board along with her two girls. Over the tour, bonds solidify and are built up and it becomes clear that the feelings between them aren't going away so... they decide to give their unexpected love a chance and maybe bring some healing to their two broken families. This book is told in alternating POV chapters between Harrison and Katelyn and for the most part takes place in present day but in many of the chapters were flashback scenes from both their lives. We saw Katelyn's memories of Mason and how dear he was to her and we saw how Harrison ended up with Quinn and how that changed his life. Not only are these books about love, they focus on family. Overall, My Unexpected Forever is fantastic and unique rock star romance. Great, complex plot and phenomenal characters.
This is a beautiful story of love after loss, the creation of family, one heartbroken woman and one very determined, very perfect man. The ending was absolutely gorgeous!!!!! It was a 5++ star ending to me.
I REALLY enjoyed this one. I feel it’s only fair to warn you that there’s a bulldozer of a cliffhanger that will leave you desperate for the next book. On first impressions this story appeared to be following the same overdone path.... rich CEO hires a young assistant and then convinces her to sign a no-strings, non-disclosure sex contract but I had a strange feeling the whole time I was listening that some things just we're not adding up and boy oh boy was I right!!! The last few chapters shocked me and I found that nothing is as it seems in this book. The writing style was engaging and sucked me in from the start. I absolutely didn’t want to put this book down once I had started it. I very much liked Brooke as our heroine – she’s really quite naive, trying to make her way in New York, sharing a run down apartment with her best friend Sylvie, she’s working well below her pay grade and has almost given up on finding her dream job. Until Jett, the devilishly handsome and seriously rich CEO, takes an instant shine to our hapless heroine, coerces her into a position whereby she must accept his job offer and straight away, he whisks her off to the shores of Lake Como in Italy where he attempts to seal a multi-millionaire real estate deal with Brooke’s help. Jett is gorgeous, sexy, pretty intense and he’s very into Brooke. He’s got some mysterious ink and a dark past. He’s a hard working CEO heading up his family’s company and is now completely fixated on Brooke. He wants her with a passion that cannot be denied and is pretty secure in his belief that he can get her to sign his sex contract. Brooke can see that he’s dangerous to know but she just can’t resist that magnetic attraction she feels every time he is near. It was intriguing to watch the blossoming relationship between Jett & Brooke grow as they spent more time together in Italy. When they finally do come back from their two week trip that's when things really start to happen... there's a mystery with a great big WTF moment. I still never did see it coming! I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.
If you’re a fan of Kelly Elliott’s Wanted Series, then you will absolutely enjoy this new series. Just like all of her other books this one is full of hot steamy scenes as well as many sweet swoon worthy scenes. Broken is the love story of Whitley Reynolds & Layton Morris. Whitley is running from her ex. Abused and broken, she moves from New York to a small town in Texas. She wants a fresh start and has permanently sworn off all men. That's her plan until the day a sexy cowboy named Layton finds her stranded on the side of the road with her broken down car. He finds her cursing at the car and very distraught that she's going to be late for her very first client meeting. Layton Morris has not had an easy life. He's had obstacle after obstacle put in his life. It seems as if every one that he loves and cares for ends up leaving him. His mother died of cancer when he was young. Shortly afterwards his dad abandoned him and his older brother. Both brothers struggle to survive with just one another. Now years later Layton has lost not only his brother but also the love of his life to his friend. So, Layton pushes everyone away and refuses to allow anyone close because everyone he loves always leaves him. That's his plan until the day his CG walks into his life. When these two first meet, I instantly fell in love with their constant back & forth witty banter. From the very beginning they had this easiness around one another. I loved watching how they both struggled with their feelings toward each other. It was so overwhelmingly romantic and the main couple, Layton and Whitley were so perfect for each other. It was almost, ALMOST borderline too perfect, but it had just enough grit and angst to keep them imperfectly perfect. I really did love the story. My 4.5 star review is based on the fact that I thought they fell in love a little too quickly. I wish there had been a little more of a buildup of their relationship. Regardless, I am a HUGE fan of Kelly Elliott's work. I love her writing style and the ability to make you fall hard and fast for her characters. This is the first in Kelly's new series Broken and it was amazing. I can't wait until Reed and Courtney's story comes out.
I love a book with all my favorite qualities!! Love, sex, suspense, angst, witty banter, smexy times with a tattooed lip ring wearing alpha god, and of course pancakes & sour patch kids all wrapped in one beautifully written package! The book really sucked me in until the very end. However, I wasn't happy to find a BIG fat cliffhanger!! A cliff-hanger that left me wanting the next book immediately! Anyways, moving forward...
Rachel is in her last yr of collage trying to overcome a traumatic experience when she meets her new neighbor. Logan ‘Kash’ is working undercover with his partner Mason, when a case goes bad they find themselves in Austin working a new case with new identities. On this new assignment he and his best friend /partner Mase have to catch a serial killer and they need to stay focused, but all he can think about is the feisty, long-legged coed who lives across the hall. She's the most beautiful woman he's ever seen hands down and all attitude but he loves it. Kash & Rachel start off with a rocky friendship that quickly turns to love. But they are both keeping secrets, and those secrets could tear them apart. The plot was paced very well. I loved Rachel and Kash together, they were adorable. The pair just clicked and they made a perfect couple. It was obvious that there feelings for each other were growing stronger by the day. So, if you want a romantic, yet suspenseful book that will make your heart pound, than this one is for you! Can't wait to tackle book 2 "Deceiving Lies" next!!
First, I'm a HUGE fan of books about MMA fighters so I was excited to see that Audible final released this one. Elle is a lawyer who lives a safe, normal, controlled life. She likes things uncomplicated actually quite boring. When she meets Nico, she knows he is the exact opposite of what she thinks she needs in her life. Nico was a six-foot-three, two hundred and twenty-one pounds, green eyed sex on a stick. She is helping him with a contract that he wants to get out of. Nico knows he wants her the minute he sees her. She is nothing like the women he normally goes after. He wants to do everything right with her and not screw things up. The relationship between Nico and Elle was not a perfect one since they are both characters that are trying to deal with a past that has scarred them. While Elle knows the nightmares that haunt Nico, he doesn't realize the darkness that Elle hides. While we learn what haunts Nico pretty much right away, there are only hints and pieces alluding to Elle's past. I had a feeling about what it was from the beginning, but I don't think it was meant to be a big secret. But still, when I found out the whole story, my heart broke for her. I really enjoyed this book. There was no unnecessary angst. They didn't play games with each other. They both had enough going on with past unresolved issues that they had enough insecurity and demons to battle without too much extra drama being thrown in. I loved that even though Nico had a womanizing past, he doesn't hesitate to stake a claim on Elle. He was a straight shooter and didn't have commitment issues. There were moments where this was extremely sweet and a lot of other ones where this was sexy as hell. Worth the Fight has so much emotion and an underlying beauty in the writing. It has heart and soul. It was just so easy to fall in love with Nico & Elle and to become invested in their lives. It had an epilogue that wrapped the story up really well. I’m looking forward the next story in the MMA Fighter series, Worth the Chance. The next book is about Vinny, Nico’s protégé. I’m dying to meet Vinny all grown up.
I've been a huge fan of Gina's ever since her first book in this series, Seducing Cinderella and she certainly didn't let me down here. Meet Aiden "Irish" O'Brien....A fighter that's been off the grid for a while due to tragedy he blames himself for. He's traveled down to sweltering Alabaster, Louisiana for one reason.. Kat MacGregor. She's the sister of one of his good friends fiancé (Vanessa &Jax from Rules of Entanglement) Jax & Vanessa have been desperately looking for Kat. Vanessa's sister has been on the run in hiding. Jax found her and wants Irish to head down to keep an eye on her. Jax plans on making sure Kat is safe and return back home to Boston. But of course things don't always work out as planned. Once Irish & Kate laid eyes on each other the attraction is immediate their chemistry is undeniable. Both of them have their pasts and their demons, but they come together first as Irish helping Kat with her problems but as the story progresses there is more to their relationship, these two characters come together and help each other get past the demons & heal. This story has all the great qualities necessary: likable characters, great plot lines, steamy sex scenes, action, and wonderful dialogue. I truly enjoyed this story. I felt this book was a little deeper & more emotional that Gina's other books in this series. Definitely worth the credit!!
This is the second installment in the Assassins series by Toni Aleo. Lucas & Fallon’s story is very different than Elli & Shea’s. The author did a great job of making the characters unique. I’ll be honest, it took me a while to warm up to Fallon. I could see why she did what she did, but she was a bit of a brat. It took forever for her to find forgiveness. I understood why she did some of the things she did, but it still frustrated me at times. She kept something pretty big from Lucas, and he forgave her, yet it took her so long to get over the past. I adored Lucas Brooks! He was an amazing guy! Loving, patient, swoony and oh so sexy. He knows that he screwed up in the past, but he is being a better man and is willing to do anything to make it up to Fallon. His struggle with addiction and his determination to stay sober, was inspiring. I felt like he needed to go through the consequences of his addiction, so that he and Fallon could be a couple. Without giving anything away, you see how sensitive Lucas is and the relationship he develops with one of the characters made me melt! I love that he was so close to his parents too. Lucas & Fallon definitely have some serious sexual chemistry! This was another great hockey-playing, sexy, tattooed, sweet, cocky, romantic hero and more HOT sex scenes!! Trying To Score is heart-warming, romantic, sweet, sexy, funny and a bit sad. The story had a little of everything. However, it didn't have anything special that makes it stand out but still worth the credit.
I liked the book but not the ending because to me there was no true ending. I cant even qualify this as a cliffhanger. Normally I genuinely love Abbi Glines but this book started getting on my nerves!! There were a few things about this book that I did not like. It wasn't that the storyline was bad but it was the relationship between the two leads that did not make sense to me. This is the first couple in the series I just didn't feel the connection with.
Grant was a complete whorish douchbag! I just can't forgive him especially after the "twins".
It was interesting to learn more about Harlow and why she was so secluded all the time. There were a lot of unexpected secrets in this story. I wish Harlow didn't give into Grant so easily. She should have made him work for it a little harder, a lot harder actually. However, I did enjoy Grant for his dirty mouth. The Rosemary Beach boys are really good at that.
Abbi Glines definitely knows how to write some hot and dirty scenes and that's exactly what you get in Take A Chance. Along with the dramatic twists and turns (especially near the end), and the very alluring characters. I wil read the next book but I'm not sure if it will help endear me to Grant.
