Jane Austen is always a pleasure, and Persuasion is one of my favorites but Juliet Stevenson makes it even better with her excellent reading. I found myself laughing out loud at her characterizations. I'm certain I'll listen to this one again and again.
I have loved everything Jimmy Buffett has published...until now. It certainly seems like Mr. Buffett is going through a mid-life crisis with his portrayal of women in this book. I was patient at first but by the end of the book when he describes yet another naked woman, I decided I was disappointed. I mean come on Jimmy, isn't it possible to appreciate a woman if she has her clothes on? Every woman in this book, except for Cleopatra, is a dizzy headed girl. Tully Mars only sees women as possible sex partners, constantly summing them up by their body parts. I had pegged Jimmy Buffett as a man who appreciated a smart, strong woman. I had not thought of him as a guy who sees all women as Spring Break fodder. As a long time fan, I have to say I?m a bit disenchanted with Mr. Buffett.
