All in all Steve Fraser had enjoyed his three-year stint in the former Dutch Southeast Asian colony of Sunda, and he’d been well compensated. But now he was looking forward to a last weekend in the capital before heading home. But Sunda was newly independent, and not entirely stable. An opposition faction with fundamentalist Islamic leanings was set on overthrowing the provisional government. And instead of enjoying a sybaritic weekend with the Eurasian beauty Rosalie, Fraser finds himself trapped with her by a fanatical group....

Seemed the book was more bent on describing a piece of history versus developing a plot and building characters. Narration was excellent and that saved the story for me. It wasn't a bad use of 6 hours of my life, but don't start listening to Eric Ambler books with this one.

When their village is attacked by trollocs, monsters thought to be only legends, three young men, Rand, Matt, and Perrin, flee in the company of the Lady Moiraine, a sinister visitor of unsuspected powers. Thus begins an epic adventure set in a world of wonders and horror, where what was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

This is not my typical genre but I enjoyed the characters, plot and the narration was top rate. Jordan can write with the best of them. I am hoping the sequels match the quality of this first book. Ratings are all high and the narrators don't change. Hard to come by in a 12 book series. Would recommend to almost anyone.

An elite plan is afoot, a plan so secret and dangerous that its existence is known only to a tiny group of specialists within the innermost core of the CIA. There is virtually no paper trail - but somehow the plan has sprung a leak and the plotters must urgently plug it - or face deadly consequences.

Littell has not let me down once. All of his books have great characters, a plot that moves along at a good pace, and with a great finale. Brick is a great pairing for Littell as well. Wish I could find more authors like Littell. This book might not be his best but still it is five star worthy. Highly recommend for anyone into espionage books.

Cayce Pollard is an expensive, spookily intuitive market-research consultant. In London on a job, she is offered a secret assignment: to investigate some intriguing snippets of video that have been appearing on the Internet. An entire subculture of people is obsessed with these bits of footage, and anybody who can create that kind of brand loyalty would be a gold mine for Cayce's client. But when her borrowed apartment is burgled, she realizes there's more to this project than she had expected.

William Gibson is a rare author in my book. The books he writes are well thought out, includes great characters, and his style makes dull narration fun to listen to. I loved this book! More mystery/espionage type book then his sci-fi stuff which I also thought was incredible. This would be a six star book if I could do it. Highest recommendation.

Though the book was a little slow in many parts but it held my interest and ended with interesting plot lines. Sometimes frustrated that it will take four chapters to complete one scene in the book. I am a little cautious going forward with this series. Narrator changes half way through and seems to have a lot of filler. Will tip toe into the next book.

For sports agent Myron Bolitar, the disappearance of a man he once competed against was bringing back memories, of the sport he and Greg Downing had both played and the woman they both loved. Now, among the stars, the wanna-bes, the gamblers, and the groupies, Myron is unraveling the strange, violent ride of a sports hero gone wrong, and coming face-to-face with a past he can't relive, and a present he may not survive.

Some how his later books lose me in details. You have to stay focused on the book to a higher degree to keep the plot straight. This one bored me toward the end. Still, don't think I would ever give Ambler lower than a 3. He just too good of a writer.

Lee Strobel became convinced that God was outmoded. Today science is supports the conclusion that the universe was intelligently designed. Darwinism has faltered in the face of facts and hard reason. Science definitely gives faith a boost as new findings emerge about the complexity of our universe. Strobel re-examines the theories that once led him away from God. You'll encounter discoveries from cosmology, DNA research, and human consciousness that present evidence in The Case for a Creator.

I enjoyed the book from many different angles and 5 stars is warranted. The only critique would be the emphasis on christianity through the book. Would rather it be religion neutral. Even through I am a christian. Makes a stronger argument if specifics of faith are left out in my mind. Still would highly recommend. Only other comment is to have frequent updates of this title that include the latest scientific info. A book like this will become quickly outdated if it doesn't.

Then Hosaka Corporation reactivates him, for a mission more dangerous than the one he's recovering from: to get a defecting chief of R&D-and the biochip he's perfected-out intact. But this proves to be of supreme interest to certain other parties-some of whom aren't remotely human.

The Stalin Epigram is a masterful rendering of the life of Osip Mandelstam, one of Russia's greatest poets of the 20th century. His heroic protest against the Stalin regime---particularly his outspoken criticism of the collectivization that drove millions of Russian peasants to starvation---finally reached its apex in 1934. When he composed a searing indictment of Stalin in a 16-line poem, secretly passed from person to person through recitation, the poet was arrested.

I just love the way Little writes. The story line is engaging though not like his typical fictional espionage type books. The narration is also top notch. I would not start listening to Littell with this book but if you like Littell's writing style you will like this one.
