Why I did not know that book five was not the last book I don't know. It should have been evident in book four when the plot stalled out. Book five does a little better job moving the plot forward, at least the last 10% of the book does. Still a lot of fluff. Boring conversations still dominate. I don't remember any of these drag on conversations in the first three books. Someone must have pulled Martin aside after book three and told him there was money to be made if he dragged out the series for a few more books. There is just such a dramatic shift from books 1-3 to books 4 and 5. I have to imagine if he is going to wrap up this series in 7 books, then book six has to refocus the plot when it comes out. If it doesn't, this series may never end. Dotrice is limping to the finish line, not a terrible job, only the female characters suffer greatly. But how is he going to do two more books. A little worried Dotrice skills are on the decline and book six could be ruined because of it. Oh well, too late to change now.
Though the book was a little slow in many parts but it held my interest and ended with interesting plot lines. Sometimes frustrated that it will take four chapters to complete one scene in the book. I am a little cautious going forward with this series. Narrator changes half way through and seems to have a lot of filler. Will tip toe into the next book.
Love the writing, how the mystery evolves and coupled with solid narration. Highly recommend the series. I do like sports and maybe that plays a part. But should be liked by all.
Some how his later books lose me in details. You have to stay focused on the book to a higher degree to keep the plot straight. This one bored me toward the end. Still, don't think I would ever give Ambler lower than a 3. He just too good of a writer.
Gibson is clearly a top rate author. What a great mix of plot, characters, and action. Narration continued to be top rate. Not for everyone but if you think it may be worth it based on the audible description, then you will love it. 6 stars easy!
I enjoyed the book from many different angles and 5 stars is warranted. The only critique would be the emphasis on christianity through the book. Would rather it be religion neutral. Even through I am a christian. Makes a stronger argument if specifics of faith are left out in my mind. Still would highly recommend. Only other comment is to have frequent updates of this title that include the latest scientific info. A book like this will become quickly outdated if it doesn't.
I love this series. Incredible writing paired with 5 star+ narration. Can't wait for the next book. Gibson is an amazing writer. This is a rare gem of a series. 6 stars would be more appropriate. Enjoy.
I just love the way Little writes. The story line is engaging though not like his typical fictional espionage type books. The narration is also top notch. I would not start listening to Littell with this book but if you like Littell's writing style you will like this one.
I started listening to Connelly from his first book written. Seems to makes sense for Connelly since he uses people and events from prior books into his future books. So far the Poet has been the best. I am still amazed that Connelly can produce one great book after another. Highly recommend. Just put the next Connelly book in my wish list.
Don't start listening Ambler with this one. He will never be below 3 starts, he is just too good. But I do have to say his earlier works are much better.
I loved this book half way through. It was new, creative and with good narration. Then the second half of the book started to smell of book with no clear conclusion. I knew it was a series , but I got the feeling that this will be one of those series that have no conclusion. I hope this is not the case. I hope the third book to come out will end the series. Then it would be worth continuing. But I feel it won't. Good concept. Teenagers will probably enjoy a 15 book series like this. Adults though, probably not.
