Josef Vadassy, a Hungarian language teacher, decides to break his journey from Nice to Paris at a windswept coastal town where his solitary nightmare begins. He collects his photographs from the chemist only to discover that the pictures are not of lizards at all, but military sites.

Looking forward to listening to all of Ambler's works. He has a way to make a book seem longer than it is (in a good way). The plot flows smoothly chapter to chapter. The characters are well done and complemented well with excellent narration. This book is also a sort of "who done it" type of book, so I would recommend that you listen carefully to the names of the cast of characters as they are presented in the book. It will help you enjoy the book in the later chapters.

The Great Recession has shuffled Clay Jannon out of his life as a San Francisco Web-design drone - and serendipity, sheer curiosity, and the ability to climb a ladder like a monkey has landed him a new gig working the night shift at Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore. But after just a few days on the job, Clay begins to realize that this store is even more curious than the name suggests. There are only a few customers, but they come in repeatedly and never seem to actually buy anything....

Life is the ultimate game of hide and seek... and the good news is that you're it! With the combination of playful irreverence and penetrating insight that made him a legend in Western philosophy, Alan Watts investigates the surprisingly liberating concept of "the universe as play" found at the heart of Hinduism, Zen, and other wisdom traditions.

At first I was taken back by the audio quality but in the end, the message is what matters. Though repetitious in many spots, the concepts are difficult and it actually ends up helping. Highly recommend.

The Wheel of Time turns and ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the age that gave it birth returns again. For centuries, gleemen have told the tales of The Great Hunt of the Horn. So many tales about each of the Hunters, and so many Hunters to tell of. Now, the Horn itself is found: the Horn of Valere long thought only legend, the Horn which will raise the dead heroes of the ages.

I still love the storyline, pace of action and characters. Narration remains excellent and Jordan keeps the suspense up in key parts of the book. I am starting to wonder, though, how he will be able to keep it up over 12 books. I would be loving this series if it was a trilogy. I have a feeling a lull must be in the future. Cross my fingers on book three.

When their village is attacked by trollocs, monsters thought to be only legends, three young men, Rand, Matt, and Perrin, flee in the company of the Lady Moiraine, a sinister visitor of unsuspected powers. Thus begins an epic adventure set in a world of wonders and horror, where what was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

This is not my typical genre but I enjoyed the characters, plot and the narration was top rate. Jordan can write with the best of them. I am hoping the sequels match the quality of this first book. Ratings are all high and the narrators don't change. Hard to come by in a 12 book series. Would recommend to almost anyone.

An elite plan is afoot, a plan so secret and dangerous that its existence is known only to a tiny group of specialists within the innermost core of the CIA. There is virtually no paper trail - but somehow the plan has sprung a leak and the plotters must urgently plug it - or face deadly consequences.

Littell has not let me down once. All of his books have great characters, a plot that moves along at a good pace, and with a great finale. Brick is a great pairing for Littell as well. Wish I could find more authors like Littell. This book might not be his best but still it is five star worthy. Highly recommend for anyone into espionage books.

Cayce Pollard is an expensive, spookily intuitive market-research consultant. In London on a job, she is offered a secret assignment: to investigate some intriguing snippets of video that have been appearing on the Internet. An entire subculture of people is obsessed with these bits of footage, and anybody who can create that kind of brand loyalty would be a gold mine for Cayce's client. But when her borrowed apartment is burgled, she realizes there's more to this project than she had expected.

William Gibson is a rare author in my book. The books he writes are well thought out, includes great characters, and his style makes dull narration fun to listen to. I loved this book! More mystery/espionage type book then his sci-fi stuff which I also thought was incredible. This would be a six star book if I could do it. Highest recommendation.

Though the book was a little slow in many parts but it held my interest and ended with interesting plot lines. Sometimes frustrated that it will take four chapters to complete one scene in the book. I am a little cautious going forward with this series. Narrator changes half way through and seems to have a lot of filler. Will tip toe into the next book.

Some how his later books lose me in details. You have to stay focused on the book to a higher degree to keep the plot straight. This one bored me toward the end. Still, don't think I would ever give Ambler lower than a 3. He just too good of a writer.
