This book has an interesting, yet confusing, start. The premise is kind of fun, but my goodness is it slow moving. While I love good character development, this goes overboard!
You need to be very patient, and you may not be standing by the end (that is if you make it).
I really like Weber, and will continue to read his stuff. This is not altogether unheard of for him. His books tend to be long with some overdeveloped characters.
As is so often the case, the crew is split for much of it, but this is woven expertly by Tufo. Not too many distractions, and the plot moves nicely. Another good Talbot story.
Overall a good story that develops interesting characters. The premise is fun, and the ramifications of the Final Theory are really intriguing. Any story about some lost nugget of wisdom from Einstein has to be captivating. Add in government and private interests competing, and you have a story that will make you want to endure the few parts where the plot wanders. Give it a listen.
Honestly one of the anti-heroes-Gupta
He reads the characters great!
A better story and narrator.
The characters jump around a lot, and the book is actually boring. It did not have much going on, and I found it hard to focus.
He was not right for this particular story.
With all of the books coming out in this genre, you can wait on this. It is not horrible, but wait until you are finished with the MANY better books in this field!
Usually Horwitz has main characters that have a friend or acquaintance who helps them resolve the main crisis. Spoiler Alert--
The main character in this book does not really have that person to bail them out. Also, the ending is not as clean. Throughout the book you will relate to the characters because they have decidedly human flaws, which makes the suspense that much more thrilling!
You will really enjoy the NSA style plot of this, and the twists and turns of this book make it a fast must read!
Brick has a great voice, even though his characters differ very little in the book or from other books he reads. He doesn't vary much, he just has a great voice.
The narrator does an excellent job setting up the characters.
A little slow at the outset, but give it some time. You don't want to miss this series.
This is the typical start to a zombie apocalypse book.
Even though they are technically not zombies.
The book is short and lays the foundation for the rest of the series.
You will want to read this book because it sets ou good books to come.
He is great!
Get ready for the rest of the series!
This story has plenty of twists and turns. The characters are pretty believable despite some of the extreme situations they are put in. You cannot help but root for the main character(s), and the suspense will make you want to see the story through to the end.
While I am usually a sci-fi person, this was a great read!
You can't help but pull for Mike. From his past to the present, he is the underdog I love.
Yes. His soothing voice makes up for his inability to inflect or add much variety in with the different characters. The book was almost a perfect assignment for him.
YES...stayed up for 6 hours straight to finish it, and paid for it the next day. Well worth it.
The story is a fun and fast listen. It is not too serious, and the characters are generally believable. I thought I would try one of the vampire books, as I usually listen to post-apocalyptic, Z, or mysteries. This book was no Twilight, which means it was more like a Trublood type of vamp book, and these two traits made it palatable.
I am not sure the story could have been. It was about right for the plot.
Continues the the story from the first book. Mayberry is just an excellent storyteller, and this is a really fun read.
Not the same Cyrus. I thought this was an interesting first book, a psychopath in a Z apocalypse. It became kind of a weird romance book, and Cyrus wimps out.
Keep developing Cyrus as a true sociopath.
It is a pretty quick listen, and is a light book if you are not looking for much.
