  • The Ruins

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 39 mins)
    • By Scott Smith
    • Narrated By Patrick Wilson
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

The Ruins follows two American couples enjoying a pleasant, lazy beach holiday together in Mexico. On an impulse, they go off with newfound friends in search of one of their group, the young German who, in pursuit of a girl, has headed for the remote Mayan ruins, site of a fabled archeological dig.

This is one creepy story! It really gets under your skin. A group of carefree young people stumble into an Indian village that protects a mountain of treacherous, deadly foliage. It sounds weird and it is, however, the story delivers. I have been unnerved by it since I read it several months ago. Suspenseful, scary and disturbing.

  • A Game of Thrones: A Song of Ice and Fire, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (33 hrs and 50 mins)
    • By George R. R. Martin
    • Narrated By Roy Dotrice
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

In a time long forgotten, a preternatural event threw the seasons off balance. In a land where summers can last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing. As the cold returns, sinister forces are massing beyond the protective wall of the kingdom of Winterfell. To the south, the king's powers are failing, with his most trusted advisor mysteriously dead and enemies emerging from the throne's shadow.

    "Fantastic saga"

This is a fascinating, and wonderful fantasy epic. If you like complex narrative with multiple intertwined plotlines, "A Game of Thrones" is for you.

The further you get into this narrative, the more it gets its hooks into you until you will find yourself forcing yourself to stop listening and go to bed. This is a real gem.

Several reviewers have been uncomplinentary to the narrator, and I could not disagree more strongly. I love audiobooks and have been listening to them for over 15 years. I think Roy Dotrice does a stupendous job with this narrative. I think it may be the finest narration I have heard. Normally I listen to the audio in a slightly sped up form; Dotrice is so good I play it in it normal manner.

  • Boy Meets Boy

    • UNABRIDGED (5 hrs and 56 mins)
    • By David Levithan
    • Narrated By Nicholas Robideau, the Full Cast Family
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

What if you went to a school where it was actually all right to be who you really are? That's the enchanting place David Levithan has created in his highly acclaimed first novel. But even if the gay kids and the straight kids all get along just fine, even if it's all right for the quarterback to be a cross dresser named Infinite Darlene and the cheerleaders to ride Harleys into the pep rally, the road to true love is still a strange and winding path, as Paul discovers when he meets the boy of his dreams.

Brian says: "Kudos to Full Cast Audio"
    "A wonderful and touching book"

Boy Meets Boy is a sweet, funny and moving story set in the Sophmore year of the protagonist, Paul. Paul likes Noah and Noah likes Paul, but everything conspires to try and keep the two apart.

David Levithan has written a story that manages, in the most pleasing way to paint a picture of the world as it should be.

The recording on Audible is a "full cast" production with different actors for each character; the recoding is extremely well done and engaging.

This is a wonderful book that will appeal to both young and old. I loved and I highly recommend it.

  • Hitler and the Holocaust [Modern Library Chronicles]

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 5 mins)
    • By Robert S. Wistrich
    • Narrated By George Guidall

For over 50 years scholars and philosophers alike have attempted to make some sense of the Third Reich and its "Final Solution" campaign. Historian Robert Wistrich takes listeners on a guided tour through the death camps and meticulously details the events that led to this horrific tragedy and the lasting repercussions it had on the world community.

    John says: "Subperb and profound"
    "Subperb and profound"

This excellent work succintly reviews both the crime and the causes of the Holocaust. As a student of World War II and the Third Reich, I felt that I had a good comprehension of this subject. Wistrich gave me a far deeper understanding in four or five hours than I have attained in hundreds of hours of study with other materials. This is a truly superb work.
