This is one of my favorite books of all time. I own a few audio versions and this is by far the best. Very well done.

Last summer, The New Yorker published chef Anthony Bourdain's shocking, "Don't Eat Before Reading This." Now, the author uses the same "take-no-prisoners" attitude in his deliciously funny and shockingly delectable audiobook, sure to delight gourmands and philistines alike.

  • A Walk in the Woods

After 20 years in Britain, Bryson returned to the U.S. and decided to reacquaint himself with his native country by walking the 2,100-mile Appalachian Trail, which stretches from Georgia to Maine. This is his humorous, inspiring account.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

The first half of the book is very well written. Bryson's voice really grated on me though. He reads in a sort of sing-songy voice that is hard to listen to. Had I not already been sucked into the story from starting to read the book, there is no way that I wouldn't have turned it off in the first five minutes. Still, the story is entertaining and well written - at least the first half. The second half loses steam quickly and I found myself looking forward to the end.
