Capturing all the complexity and grand themes of the original, this prequel to the Dune series weaves a new tapestry of betrayal, passion, and destiny into a saga that expands the tale written by Frank Herbert more than 30 years ago.

Robert says: "Maybe better than original Audible production."

Where does Dune rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Solid audio book and good story.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I have always loved Duncan Idaho!

Which character – as performed by Scott Brick – was your favorite?

Jessica - wanted to hear more from her.

    Any additional comments?

I am really glad I finally broke down my resistance to Non-Frank Dune stories. B. Herbert and K Anderson are different, but very good.

Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth. There he meets the freaks, grifters, and misfits that populate this world. Jacob introduces us to Marlena, beautiful star of the equestrian act; to August, her charismatic but twisted husband (and the circus' animal trainer); and to Rosie, a seemingly untrainable elephant.

MIKOKO says: "Couldnt hear the story because of the narrator"

Would you consider the audio edition of Water for Elephants to be better than the print version?

I totally enjoyed the story. Narrators expressed such personality in their tone and delivery, it really rounded out the reality of the characters. The story was rich with detail that made the experience very visual for me as well. I recommend the story and this audible version very highly

What does David LeDoux and John Randolph Jones bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Their delivery and the quality of their voices made the story characters much more vivid for me. They reminded me of people I have known and caused me to spend time pondering how the characters might be like or unlike those people. It was much more like meeting the character himself. They have lingered in my mind like old friends that have moved away - one of my measures of a truely wonderful story.

If you could take any character from Water for Elephants out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I loved the older character - the salty honesty and intermittant self awareness. I enjoyed his frequent crankiness and his deep feelings.
