The book, itself, is actually pretty good. A good start to a movie franchise (if they don't screw it up). But... There were way too many times where I got the feeling that the editor inserted words just to make the descriptions longer, and I found myself saying "get on with it." That alone, isn't the only reason for the "four" stars though. Neither is the title. *grin*
The reason I wrote this review is the narration. The narration is 85% good, 15% horrible. Over-acted. Or to use the words of the narrator - "Performed." Not read. Not narrated in such a way that the characters, voices and inflections seem plausible. But HORRIBLY overdone in a few cases. Don't skip it because of this, but you will immediately know what I'm talking about when you hear these specific characters.
Please, for the love of god please come up with other words to use to describe the jump transition. Since you use that same phrase probably 40 times in this book please look for something else. Other than that I really like the books, the entire series
This could have easily been titled "The book of Faith." Great way to round it out though.
I listen to this book first and really did enjoy it. As soon as I was finished I decided to go rent the movie was very disappointed. They simply removed about three major characters, and of the ones remaining they chopped this down to the point where it was almost not the same story. Granted I'm almost always a believer in the book is better than the movie but in this regards it's night and day...or maybe dark and light
Meh, predictable ending from far to soon in the book. Others will like it, but just wasn't for me
When I got this book I thought it was going to be talking about dark matter and dark energy and the concepts behind each but instead I got a book of the history of whining scientists about who is getting credit for what and going on and on and on and on and on and on about very little to do with dark matter or dark energy
The story, it's a good story
Ree. Obviously she's the primary character...but she's fun, witty, sexy, sweet, and something that every nerd wishes the girls he built up the courage to talk to would turn out to be.
Anyone. Her pitch was just at that level that felt like nails on a chalkboard
Probably not, at least not until I hear that her style has matured
Not written it
Young, capable, sophomoric
One of very few books I couldn't even finish
Entire chapters of this book are on topics that no longer exist.
Yes, but since most is not relevant...
Nothing at all
Update the book or stop selling it
I think this book would help validate the existence of some in-bread back woods militia people.
Absolutely, some of his other books are great
Mike, the character, is great. The story itself isn't bad, it's just not the type of character I can really relate to
When it comes down to the general views of dealing with underworld antagonist, I agree and would do much the same, but when it comes to raping 15 year old girls, etc., I really just was more turned off and thought "this is the kind of guy I'd have no problem putting a bullet hole in myself"
For adults only
useful info, but got a bit dated (even if just by a few years). still very useful tips and ideas. worth the listen.
uh, it ended.
