In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October, 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world.

David says: "Superb in so many ways"
    "Amazing and mesmerizing"

This book is incredible. I found it hard to believe that such a great book has existed since 1959 and I had never even heard of it. The narration is spectacular and the story even better. Do yourself a favor and buy this book.

Engaging and suspenseful from page 1 to the last. The best Mitch Rapp book to date. I highly recommend this book. narration is mediocre however.

Addie Baum is "The Boston Girl", born in 1900 to immigrant parents who were unprepared for and suspicious of America and its effect on their three daughters. Growing up in the North End, then a teeming multicultural neighborhood, Addie's intelligence and curiosity take her to a world her parents can’t imagine - a world of short skirts, movies, celebrity culture and new opportunities for women.

Meryl H. Ruth says: "Sweet, Nostalgic"
"A must read for every Girl, Boston or otherwise."

A wonderful story. I listened with tears in my eyes and a heart full to brimming. Missing my Louisiana Nana with every turn of the audible page. Every woman should be so lucky to have a strong, funny, intelligent grandmother.
