  • Loyalty in Death: In Death, Book 9

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 15 mins)
    • By J. D. Robb
    • Narrated By Susan Ericksen
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

An unknown bomber is stalking New York City. He is sending Eve Dallas taunting letters promising to wreak mass terror and destruction among the "corrupt masses". And when his cruel web of deceit and destruction threatens those she cares for most, Eve fights back. It's her's her job...and it's hitting too close to home. Now, in a race against a ticking clock, Eve must make the pieces fit - before the city falls.

    Shelly says: "arizona"
    "Excellent Narration"

The J.D. Robb, Eve Dallas series, is one of the best. Susan Ericksen's gift for capturing the characters' persona hits the mark every time. I have listened to 20 of these audio books and read the others. I intend to eventually buy those I've read so I can enjoy Susan's narration. The story lines are always very interesting and some of the humorous lines have me laughing out loud. Somehow, J.D. Robb is able to make the love making between her and Roark different in every book and a wonderful experience without seeming tawdry or vulgar, even though at times their banter can be; however, it is usually very humorous. Keep writing them J.D. I just finished the latest, Kindred in Death, and as usual the narration was top notch.

  • Sycamore Row

    • UNABRIDGED (20 hrs and 50 mins)
    • By John Grisham
    • Narrated By Michael Beck
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

Brock says: "Grisham at his best (again)"
    "Grisham Continues To Shine..."
Where does Sycamore Row rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    Definitely in the top ten...

What was one of the most memorable moments of Sycamore Row?

The heartt-wrenching telling of the horrific lynching of Seth & Ansel's father.

What about Michael Beck’s performance did you like?

Excellent performance...I could see each character in my mind's eye.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

A laugh or two...but the lynching brought me to tears.

    Any additional comments?

When the audiobook's release date was announced I did not hesitate to pre-order...and then anxiously waited. I was so excited when I was able to purchase & download that I immediately did so & started listening. I finsihed listening in three days, only because I had a busy week and was away from home & my computer. There's no doubt that if I had not had so many activities in that week, I think I could have listened to this audiobook in one sitting. On the other hand, when I was forced to stop listening and get on with my day, it was with anticipation that I awaited the time when I could listen again.John Grisham, over the years, is without a doubt one of my favorite authors. It is so refreshing to listen to his stories without his having to embelish with sex scenes and make a character use foul language or use Christ's name to represent the character's frustration or anger. Thank you for that, Mr Grisham. Cannot wait for another amazing story

  • The Witness

    • UNABRIDGED (16 hrs and 18 mins)
    • By Nora Roberts
    • Narrated By Julia Whelan
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Daughter of a cold, controlling mother and an anonymous donor, studious, obedient Elizabeth finally let loose one night, drinking too much at a nightclub and allowing a strange man’s seductive Russian accent to lure her to a house on Lake Shore Drive. The events that followed changed her life forever. Twelve years later, the woman now known as Abigail Lowery lives alone on the outskirts of a small town in the Ozarks. A freelance programmer, she works at home designing sophisticated security systems.

    M. Davis says: "Classic Nora - Outstanding!!!!"
    "All Around Excellent!"
If you could sum up The Witness in three words, what would they be?

    Enthralling! Engaging! Intriguing!

What did you like best about this story?

The relationship that develops between Abigail & Brooks.

What about Julia Whelan’s performance did you like?

Excellent performance. Her ability to give each character a voice that you could picture what they might look like.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    The Epitome of Intrigue!

    Any additional comments?

I have long been a fan of Nora Roberts' "In Death Series." Have read and listened to several of her books but will defintely start looking for other stories that I have missed.
