If you have read or listened to other books by Rosenberg, you know you will be getting a lot of religion mixed with action. This is the third book in this particular series by Rosenberg. It's better because there is more action than before. But it can be a bit of religion overload at times. Still I enjoyed listening.

India, 1937: William Avery is a young soldier with few prospects except rotting away in campaigns in India; Jeremiah Blake is a secret political agent gone native, a genius at languages and disguises, disenchanted with the whole ethos of British rule, but who cannot resist the challenge of an unresolved mystery.

Days before one of Hollywood’s hottest stars, Gaia Lafayette, leaves her Bel Air home for a movie role on location in Brighton, England, there is a bungled attempt on her life. The whole city of Brighton awaits Gaia’s arrival, including her dangerously obsessive number-one fan looking for revenge and an anxious Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, charged with protecting Gaia. When a mutilated torso is found on a chicken farm miles away in the countryside, the police have no reason at all to connect this to the star’s visit to the county....

As I finish the eighth in this series, I continue to appreciate the author's ability to weave together the lives of all the characters into a very well crafted and entertaining story. On to the next with hope that the author will continue to write more in the series.

However, I do wish that the "Sandy" story line would reach some conclusion soon.

Spring 1937. In the four years since she left England, Maisie Dobbs has experienced love, contentment, stability - and the deepest tragedy a woman can endure. Now all she wants is the peace she believes she might find by returning to India. But her sojourn in the hills of Darjeeling is cut short when her stepmother summons her home to England; her aging father, Frankie Dobbs, is not getting any younger.

I've missed Maisie and was so glad to have her back. Having said that, I miss her return to solving cases as she has in the past. However, we see how strong she is to suffer all the sorrows she has and to find a new, perhaps short lived, purpose in her life.

Additionally, Maisie would not be Maisie without the narration of Orlagh Cassidy.

All in all glad to have her back and I look forward to more.

He's chasing a murderer whose victims have nothing in common - nothing except for the taunting notes that are delivered to Daniel after each murder. And when Daniel receives a note immediately after Molly and her young son, Liam, are in a terrible train crash, Daniel and Molly both begin to fear that maybe Molly herself was the target.

Clare Cosi used to manage the historic Village Blend coffeehouse…until she opted for quieter pastures and a more suburban life. But after ten years and a little friendly cajoling from the owner (a fresh pot of Jamaican Blue Mountain was all it took), she's back to the grind. With a sprawling rent-free apartment directly above the Village Blend, her cat Java by her side, and plenty of coffeehouse redecorating ideas, Clare is thrilled to return to work. Until she discovers the assistant manager unconscious in the back of the store, coffee grounds strewn everywhere.

Throughout these books, Follett has followed the fortunes of five intertwined families - American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh - as they make their way through the twentieth century. Now they come to one of the most tumultuous eras of all: the enormous social, political, and economic turmoil of the 1960s through the 1980s, from civil rights, assassinations, mass political movements and Vietnam to the Berlin Wall, the Cuban Missile Crisis, presidential impeachment, revolution - and rock and roll.

I looked forward to the final book of the trilogy. This one was interesting but not as good as the first two. However, because the "history" in this book occurred during my lifetime, I enjoyed relating to what the characters were experiencing.

As some reviewers have mentioned, Follett gets a little preachy sometimes and there are way too many graphic sex scenes. But all in all I recommend this book if you have already read the first two.
