Well worth the listen.
It reads too much like a text book. This is one of the greatest stories of the twentieth century reduced to facts, etc. This book is everything that turned me off about history before I discovered my love for it.
He did the best he could with what he had.
No reaction except joy as it finally concluded.
This is a fine book but is read like it is your most boring high school history teacher!
The performance is so deadpan and dead I cannot rate the book well at all.
Needs a new performance
He just killed it with boredom
I don't know.
He is better for a few minutes on TV. After three hours it gets really old and is no longer funny.
This audio book sounded too much like some of the lectures I sat through back in my college days. Lots of great information but delivered in such a way as to make it uninteresting.
The performance was like a boring college professor. Yuck. Find a better reader who could make the greatest story ever told sound like he is a little bit excited about it.
He should have skipped this one.
Warning! Don't listen while driving.
I am a huge John Grisham fan and have enjoyed all his books. This one was OK but it was certainly not the kind of story that I grown to expect. I am disappointed. Let me go find a biography or something to read that will keep me more engaged.
John Grisham poorest effort is still better than most others. I wouldn't say don't read it. Just don't get your hopes up.
No. Let it die.
I learned a great deal but it was far from an exciting read. It reads in a "just the facts" manner. One would think that a book on spies would have more intrigue.
The book was interesting and I liked the way the author chose to tell the story. However, when I spend hours listening to a book I want an ending. I like for at least some of the loose ends to be tied together. This book ended leaving me wondering if I had downloaded all of it.
I listened for about an hour. It was an hour of pain and misery. What a waste of a credit!
The author has handled this subject well. Overall however the book could stand some editing. The topic is covered too well and often redundantly.
