The last time Sophie saw sexy P.I. Anatoly Darinsky, he practically danced a jig when she waved goodbye; a normal reaction for a man who'd nearly bought the farm trying to protect her from her own foolishness. What are the chances he'd agree to take incriminating pictures of her sister's philandering husband? Or that he'd let her tag along, you know, for research?

Jessica says: "Great Chick Lit Mystery"
    "Better than the first !"

If you thought that Kyra's first book was exciting, her new book Passion, Betrayal, and Killer Highlights is even better. You really get to know and feel the characters. I highly recommend listening to this audio. Can't wait for another audio by this author.

It seems at first like a simple, tragic story. Tyler Wingo, a teenage boy, learns the awful news that his father, a soldier, was killed in action in Afghanistan. Then the extraordinary happens: Tyler receives a communication from his father...after his supposed death. Tyler hires Sean and Michelle to solve the mystery surrounding his father. But their investigation quickly leads to deeper, more troubling questions. Could Tyler's father really still be alive? What was his true mission? Could Tyler be the next target? Sean and Michelle soon realize that they've stumbled on to something bigger and more treacherous than anyone could have imagined.

    Story

The narration seem rushed and the interaction between the main characters feels extremely superficial. I have listened to the entire King Maxwell series and although this story has a lot of twists and turns, it just misses being really good. I love David Baldacci's writing and this series, however this is just an OK listen.

Island One is a celestial utopia, and David Adams is its most perfect creation - a man with a brain as advanced as any computer and a body free of human frailties. But David is a prisoner - a captive of the colony that created him - destined to spend the days of his life in an island-sized cylinder that circles a doomed and desperate home planet. Thousands of miles below him, a world trembles; its people cringe in terror and despair in anticipation of an impending apocalypse. And fate has cast one extraordinary human in the role of savior.

I love Ben Bova Stories ! Tabori's narration seemed a little rough. I guess I have been spoiled by Stephan Rudnicki's characterizations. After a while this narration grows on you. Give it a chance ! The story is really good.

Commanded into marriage by the king, Myles Campbell is no more willing than his reluctant bride. Still, she is a rare beauty, passionate enough to warm even the coldest marriage bed.

What did you like best about Mount Dragon? What did you like least?

The crazy man talking to his imaginary friend. What I like least was that the author did not develop a full back story for this character. Now, that would have been an amazing tale.

Also the Cyber World should have been developed more. That would have been a blast.
They could have made another series from that. I would have wanted to read/hear that also.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It could have been great, not enough emotion was generated from the text to make you care about the characters

What three words best describe David Colacci’s voice?

David's voices are good, however I do believe that take on some of the characters were over the top.

Did Mount Dragon inspire you to do anything?

    No.

    Any additional comments?

The authors should stick to "Pendergast". Now those are 5 star listens .....

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I liked the interactions between Amanda and Evelyn Mitchell when trying to prove that they were capable of police officers.

Would you recommend Criminal to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes. Some of the references in the flashbacks are kinda dated. So, if you are 40 or 50 something, you will share a deeper understanding of where Karin Slaughter wit. I also feel this book would appeal more to my girlfriends.

What aspect of Kathleen Early’s performance would you have changed?

Kathleen's tones are too clipped. The late Anna Fields would have nailed this.

Could you see Criminal being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

    No.

With an ailing mother to care for, Lisa Grant takes the first job she can find: research assistant to District Attorney Scott Buchanan. What Lisa expects to be a mind-numbingly boring task turns into anything but when a missing-persons case draws her attention. The details of the case are engrossing: an entire family — father, mother, and two children — disappeared without a trace more than 28 years ago. Except that’s not all: the mother in a photo Lisa finds could be her own twin.

I loved this book because it showed multiple perspectives of a family grief, and loss. It also showed that families need to communicate more and that life is precious and should not be taken for granted.
