If you're looking for techniques, case studies, and strategy, don't look for it here.If you've never read or been involved with business, then this would be a good place to get an introduction to basic concepts.I never went to business school, but have working in business and marketing management for over 8 years. I purchased this book in hopes that it would be a nice, easy listen that would also fill a bunch of academic points I might have missed by not receiving a formal education. Well, I was dead wrong. This book is a summary of only the most 101 level of business. It will teach you audience targeting tricks like "Oprah's core audience is not likely to include burly men in leather jackets"....enlightening. I'm pretty sure that most people already know that they can't market to each and every person. I listened for over 4 hours and didn't learn a single new idea, word, or technique. Overall, "the personal mba" is extremely misleading. But then again, he must by doing something right with the guise, as he is definitely more wealthy than I am.
Absolutely! I'm listening to it for the third time right now.
I simply dived right into this juicy rhetoric tool. It goes over common rhetorical tools in a refreshing, facsinating, and enjoyable way. Dout uses a lovely combination of simple and descriptive narration in natural language, which combining academic definitions. It's so easy to follow along with!
