I enjoyed this entire series and this final novel was an excellent conclusion. I was hesitant to listen to this because it was such a departure from Correia's Monster Hunters International which I love. However, the story and characters were so unique, complex, and entertaining I fell in love with this series. Pinchot portrayal of Faye and Henrich was inspired. While Jack Sullivan might be considered the hero, all the characters are so integral to the story which makes for a very satisfying listen!
The hero of the story is constantly saying she doesn't understand and nothing makes sense. She is right. I'm sure people like it because the characters were formerly well-developed.
Formerly interesting characters have become so stupid, one-dimensional and irritating that I never want to read about them again.
She did the best she could with the material provided. Perhaps more energy could have helped the material is some way.
I was initially interested in the premise but after listening for an hour I became angry because so much made no sense. I was stuck with nothing else to listen to on a long road trip made longer by this story. I felt cheated after listening to this.
Seriously, I can't believe that anyone wrote a positive review for this story. I liked the earlier books and was excited about this one. After listening to the entire mess, I never want to hear from these characters again. The series has "jumped the shark".
I mostly enjoyed how smart the female lead was, she was analytical and able to evaluate her own emotions and actions in a thoughtful way.
I walked an extra two miles to hear the end. I would say that I would like to have had some more resolution at the end but overall, very satisfied with the story.
Loved her voice, will listen for more from her.
The scene when she presents the bloody sweater. I don't want to give anything away but it was moving.
This book had many scenes which got my blood pressure up. The fight scenes with the werewolves and the scene with the vampires were very well written and performed. I have now ordered the rest of the books in the series and am looking forward to learning more about Mercy!
