Is there anything you would change about this book?

I always hope for a range of hope and disappointment in my characters experiences, and found this last book was more filled with death, destruction and disappointment than I would have liked, although narration was excellent and the story telling and characterisation very well done.

Would you recommend Crown of Shadows to your friends? Why or why not?

Maybe, but they'd have to be very specifically fantasy, and DARK fantasy at that.

What does R. C. Bray bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

A great narration and clear delineation between characters

Was Crown of Shadows worth the listening time?

    Sure.

Sometimes the only way to love - and redemption - is to make a deal with the devil. After the death of her parents, Lady Aurora de Marquise is left with no illusions. Stripped of her birthright and betrayed by her uncle, escape is her only option. With her life on the line, she narrowly avoids another murder attempt - only to run headlong into Lord Brigham de Mornay, a man most consider a monster. With her uncle's henchmen nipping at her heels, Aurora knows better than to trust a stranger - especially one as compelling as Brigham.

Would you try another book from Coreene Callahan and/or Sue Pitkin?

    Never ever, no, never.

What could Coreene Callahan have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Broadened her vocabulary. Stopped using the one or two words or phrases that said 'medieval' to her, and got some more. And then didn't include them with contemporary jargon and attitudes. And then wrote more story and less endless erotic scenes.

What didn’t you like about Sue Pitkin’s performance?

The pauses and the wrong pronunciation of a number of words.

What character would you cut from Warrior's Revenge?

    The main protagonist.

    Any additional comments?

Sorry, but if I hear the word mayhap one more time, mayhap I will be sick. It is mayhap the most overworked word, mayhap, in this whole story.

In defense of her honor, innocent Leda Etoile has burned all her bridges and taken refuge in her tiny attic room in a shabby boarding house in London. But her last safe haven is invaded when she wakes to find a man hidden in the dark - a man with golden hair and the face of a fallen angel, who moves in the night like a shadow. Will he be her savior, or her ruin? Samuel Gerard draws her inexorably into the richest circles of aristocratic England. But even as Leda falls in love with a man she can never have, she must keep his secrets.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Shadow and the Star to be better than the print version?

YES! Nicholas Boulton has nailed it, and brings the wonderful characters to life.

What did you like best about this story?

The odd issues and problems that her main protagonists have to deal with, which makes them so very human. I love the story line, and that despite the odds, they find redemption.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The scene where she is thinking she is safely tucked away in her attic and shuts the window. Gets undressed and brushes her hair, and sees him in the ceiling struts above her in the mirror in her hand.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I just got more and more hooked.

    Any additional comments?

PLEASE write more books, Laura. And please put them on audio with Nicholas Bolton reading.

Where does Flowers from the Storm rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

My absolute favorite story I've heard in months. Loved it so much I just relistened to it with a friend over a weekend. What a great range of believable characters, and a story that keeps you on the edge. Nicholas Boulton perfectly captures the voices and intonations and is so easy to listen to. We had tissues nearby and used them.

What other book might you compare Flowers from the Storm to and why?

I enjoyed The Prince of Midnight as well, but not as much as this one.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The scene where the Duke comes in to the Quaker meeting and struggles through his speech.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    The Madness of Chevaux

    Any additional comments?

I wish there were twenty books like this one.

What made the experience of listening to The Prince of Midnight the most enjoyable?

I was totally gripped at the first few lines and have run a ragged roller coaster listening ever since. Torn between trying to leave it so that I can properly concentrate and savour it. And not wanting it to finish.
A perfect blend of depth of characters, redemption, adventure, and heart.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    S. T. the highwayman was delicious.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The scene where she joins him late at night after he has returned from the village as a highwayman. She thinks she hates him, but she can't stay away.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

BOTH. Loved it immensely. Want it on my book shelf to read again and again.

    Any additional comments?

I read A LOT of books, from romances to Sci Fi to fantasy, or thriller. This book is not just a romance, it is so much more.

What disappointed you about To Win Her Heart?

Sorry, I thought this would be a more down to earth novel, and realised after purchasing that it was another religious romance. Disappointed.
