The scion of an old-money San Francisco family, Daniel Brasher left his well-paying, respectable money-manager position to marry his community organizer wife and work at a job he loves, leading group counseling sessions with recently paroled violent offenders. One night he finds an envelope - one intended for someone else that was placed in his office mailbox by accident. Inside is an unsigned piece of paper, a handwritten note that says, "Admit what you've done or you will bleed for it."

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have read most of the Greg Hurwitz books and this one was not only nail biting and intense but also moving. The characters in the story are lovable, well most of them anyhow. Redemption being a common theme, I just loved the characters and the relationships. How about a sequel? The main character could easily have a series where he continues to help the police detective. And narrator, Scott Brick never disappoints. He has narrated many of Greg's books and I have listened to all of them. More Scott Brick please, he could read the phone book and make it sound interesting.

What other book might you compare Tell No Lies to and why?

Any Scott Brick narrated book but especially ones written by Greg Hurwitz, Harlan Coben and John Lutz.

Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

He is the best! I actually look for Scott Brick narrated books when deciding what to listen to.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me cry in multiple areas as well as laugh. I went through the full gamete of emotions.

Where does The Dead Room rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I gave read many serial killer stories and it starts getting repetitive but this book was refreshing. This one follows a young criminal lawyer instead of a police detective. It is by far one of the best mystery novels I've read. Also I have never listened to Jim McCance before but he was great, at times he sounded like Buffalo Bill from "Silence of the Lambs" and other times he sounded like my favorite narrator, Scott Brick. If you like Scott Brick you should like Jim McCance.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I enjoyed listening to the evolution of Teddy who was somewhat naive and desperate for a mentor.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The underwater scene, I'll leave it at that. ;)

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Once I got into it I couldn't put it down.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Anyone that likes this narrator will like it. I didn't like the narrator. I'm two hours into the story and I've stopped it twice to read other books.

What could Robert W. Walker have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

He should try to keep the same narrator throughout the series. For a man to read as a woman he has to be careful to not make the girl sound too girly. Jessica is a tough woman and I don't like how he reads her. Also, two hours in the Jessica still hasn't been brought into the crime investigation in New Orleans, its just dragging! The other issue which is no fault of this book is book 3 is not available on audible therefore I now have a gap in the storyline.

Would you be willing to try another one of Ted Brooks’s performances?

I will and I will try to finish this book. I would really like book 3 on audible.

What character would you cut from Pure Instinct?

    cut the narrator

Would you listen to Killer Instinct again? Why?

I really liked this book. Lately the crime novels I've been reading are more romance than thriller. This one is gritty and the woman doesn't take any s**t.

What did you like best about this story?

It was suspenseful and I enjoyed all the forensic talk. The ending was deeply disturbing and I loved listening to every second of it.

What does Brian Nishii bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He was fantastic! I liked his voice for Jessica. She sounds as you would expect. Someone very intelligent and just wants to cut through the nonsense.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    I pretty much did.
