I love the Andy Carpenter character and this book didn't disappoint. HOWEVER, the abridged version made the storyline seem choppy and the flow of events abrupt. At times, an event will take place that seems completely out of context but changes the entire storeline. . . obviously the missing pieces were too important to cut out.
This book is beautifully read. The narrator does a wonderful job, the book itself is haunting and beautiful.
Sheff is gut level honest with his readers and it is a chance not just to peek at addiction from an outsiders standpoint,(all the closer many people get while at the same time pronouncing judgment on addicted people), but an opportunity to fully inspect and gaze upon the wonders of addiction that affect all of us. A tale of pain, and unyielding hope. I give this four and a half stars for it's superb reading and great content.
wonderful listen. I had no problem with the narrators, like some other people had. I would highly recommend this audiobook. great book on many different levels. enjoy the ride.
John keeps you laughing with a solid and fairly clean performance. He's comedy is easy to related to and draws you into his stories.
The author is great and the reader absolutely makes the book. It's a light murder mystery with sense of humor. highly recommended.
I'm a huge Gaffigan fan and this is a great listen. If you have already heard Beyond the Pale there is some repetious material, but it's still worth the listen.
This is quite possibly the most hilarious book I've downloaded. My husband who usually does not enjoy audio books was constantly borrowing my ipod to listen to this story.
The story is centered around death and if you can get past your initial shock at Moore making light and irreverant comments about death - you'll laugh till it hurts.
The narrator adds a lot of voices/character to the book which are perfect for this type of story. Enjoy!
