It's a dark and engaging story. The characters are complex and edgy.
Adelle. Adelle is so complex and interesting. The narrator elegantly brings her to life.
Beautiful and skillful narration. The actor really brings these characters and places to life. Fantastic.
This is not the type of book I typically listen to/read but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was very exciting and well acted. The narrator did a great job.
The narrator brought these characters and locations vividly to life. Fantastic performance.
Great story, great acting. Swept me away to another world. Loved it.
I've never read the book but it would be hard to beat John Lee's performance.
Fantastic narration. Highly recommended.
Thought provoking, relevant, emotionally poignant.
It was a great cautionary tale. It swept me away into this futuristic world. The characters tugged at my heart as they were expertly and elegantly brought to life by these two narrators. At first I thought Lenny's voice would annoy me, but as I listened, it was actually perfect for the character. The female's performance could not have been more excellent. This was well cast--the actors were phenomenal.
No. But I would like to listen to more of Ali Ahn in particular.
It was all quite stirring. I loved every "page."
Highly recommended for story and narration.
Up there. I really enjoyed it. Thought provoking content and the author does a great job narrating.
His voice! The voice is a powerful thing. There's so much emotion and nuance that is more accessible in listening.
I don't know that it would make a great film.
This seems to have been recorded when audiobooks were geared toward "reading for the blind"...before audiobooks became more mainstream. I think as audiobooks became more mainstream, standards became higher and narrators are now asked to act/perform, and producers and/or directors are involved to audit quality. This narrator has a fantastic and fitting voice but doesn't seem to act out the story. There are awkward pauses, the characters don't really come to life, and there is background noise. This is one of my all time favorite stories so I still enjoyed it. If I were not already in love with it, however, I don't believe this audiobook would have captured my attention enough and I'd have dismissed it. I would love to hear a re-record of Lost Horizon.
In a heartbeat.
Please re-record this book.
Because Cynthia Nixon is fantastic.
There's a reason she's a famous actor, folks. Wow, what a talent. She really made this book come alive. The emotion and nuance she brought was amazing. So good.
