  • The Godfather

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 39 mins)
    • By Mario Puzo
    • Narrated By full cast
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

The Godfather is an extraordinary novel which has become a modern-day classic. Puzo pulls us inside the violent society of the Mafia and its gang wars. The leader, Vito Corleone, is the Godfather. He is a benevolent despot who stops at nothing to gain and hold power.

Aaron says: "Movie is Great, Book is Better"

Having never read this before and watched the movies over and over again, I was excited to get right into this. I was not disappointed. The added details and back stories make The Godfather better than ever. Highly recommend this. Great narration, best I have listened to yet.

  • Phil Gordon's Little Green Book: Lessons and Teachings in No Limit Texas Hold'em

    • ABRIDGED (3 hrs and 27 mins)
    • By Phil Gordon
    • Narrated By Phil Gordon

Phil Gordon plays poker with the best players in the world. He has won, and lost, in tournaments and cash games around the globe, all the while studying the game and learning from every hand dealt. It's a tough game. But anyone can become a winning player with the right amount of courage, patience, aggression, observation, and, perhaps most important, dedication to becoming a better player.

william c thill says: "A unique approach to teaching poker skills"
    "Good listen, more for beginners!"

I liked this even though I have been playing poker forever, all amature though. Great insights, good stories, and something I will revisit from time to time.

  • Atlas Shrugged

    • UNABRIDGED (63 hrs)
    • By Ayn Rand
    • Narrated By Scott Brick

In a scrap heap within an abandoned factory, the greatest invention in history lies dormant and unused. By what fatal error of judgment has its value gone unrecognized, its brilliant inventor punished rather than rewarded for his efforts? In defense of those greatest of human qualities that have made civilization possible, one man sets out to show what would happen to the world if all the heroes of innovation and industry went on strike.

Mica says: "Hurt version decidedly superior"
    "Great, worth the time!"

This is very long listen, but one that is well worth it. It makes you think about life and has wonderful descriptions of the characters and a time when the country was so young. I am very excited about reading more from Ayn Rand.

  • The Da Vinci Code

    • UNABRIDGED (17 hrs and 4 mins)
    • By Dan Brown
    • Narrated By Paul Michael
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

While in Paris on business, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon receives an urgent late-night phone call. The elderly curator of the Louvre has been murdered inside the museum, a baffling cipher found near the body. As Langdon and gifted French cryptologist, Sophie Neveu, sort through the bizarre riddle, they are stunned to discover a trail of clues hidden in the works of Da Vinci, clues visible for all to see and yet ingeniously disguised by the painter.

    Alexandra says: "Incredibly entertaining"
    "Great story!"

Much has been said and written about The Da Vinci Code and it is worth checking out if you have not already done so. This is following his first book with Robert Langdon, so I would recommend reading Angels & Demons 1st. You can enjoy this without the first one, however starting the trilogy off properly will make this more enjoyable. Well written, educational, and thought-provoking. Loved it! Have not seen the movie and would say the book is worth the read since movies tend to dissapoint. If you saw the movie, this is a MUST read since it has so much more to offer from what I've heard.

  • Deception Point: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (16 hrs and 56 mins)
    • By Dan Brown
    • Narrated By Richard Poe
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When a NASA satellite discovers an astonishingly rare object buried deep in the Arctic ice, the floundering space agency proclaims a much-needed victory, a victory with profound implications for NASA policy and the impending presidential election. To verify the authenticity of the find, the White House calls upon the skills of intelligence analyst Rachel Sexton. Accompanied by a team of experts, including the charismatic scholar Michael Tolland, Rachel travels to the Arctic and uncovers the unthinkable.

Mark Bunker says: "Some people are too picky -- This is a must"
    "Worth checking out!"

In an attempt to get a feel for Dan Brown's other work I checked this out and enjoyed it. It had suspense and a mild political theme while incorporating science and exploration. His characters were interesting and the back and forth of the story kept me wanting more throughout the book. I recommend this to those who want a good read/listen and who have an interest in science, discovery, suspense, and want some excitement.
