this was more a hardy boys mystery combined with a history class. I appreciated the lesson on the federal reserve and american history. however, there virtually no suspense and no action. I expect more from a harvath novel. ive read them all...this is the only one i would not recommend. I think I miss mitch rapp already.
maybe go back and re-read some of the rapp books.
armand does good overall and does some of the characters very well. however, only george guidall (sp?) can capture the essence of harvath. same goes for mitch rapp.
I hope mr. thor takes scot harvath back to his roots in his next book. and hopefully, George guidall will tell us the story.
All I can say is, "wow." This was fantastic from start to finish and unlike so many other stories, this one's action and anticipation grew throughout the novel.
After a very disappointing, "Act of War", by Brad Thor, this had my adrenaline pumping. I found myself just sitting and listening. I could not put it down. What a great job by the author(s) in creating a story that seemed so real.
Also, the characters were brought to life by the story line and the narration.
I can't wait for the next Sniper Elite series novel to be released. I cannot put into words how truly great this 2nd book in the series is.
I just don't understand it. Mr. Mercedes was so lame. What happened to great stories like "It" or "The Talisman?" Has he run out of ideas?
The only thing that kept me engaged was the narrator. He was brilliant.
I'm still missing Vince Flynn and the unbelievable Mitch Rapp series. Nothing came close. The Will Robie series is helping to bridge the gap. The characters are believable and the narrators are really good. This particular book had a number of different story lines running but did a great job in keeping me in suspense. I'm looking forward to the next book.
...this is the best one yet. The first one hooked me big time; one of the best books I've listened to. This one is great too. I couldn't put it down. Can't wait for the next one! Anybody have a line on when that will be?
I was devastated with the loss of Vince Flynn. He was a patriot and his Mitch Rapp series was just fantastic. So many times I found myself sitting in the driveway listening for just a few more minutes before turning off my ipod. However, with Vince, so went Mitch.
I like the Scot Harvath books and especially the Dewey Andreas series (these rock) but Dalton Fury has really nailed it with his Delta Force books.
Again I find myself sitting in my driveway listening for a few more minutes before going into the house. I've finished both books in the series in record time. I just couldn't stop listening. In fact, I'll probably listen again, just as I did with each of the Mitch Rapp books.
If you're a Mitch Rapp fan and looking for a comparable character and story, this is it. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
The narration is fantastic as well. He does a great job capturing the essence of every single character, helping the characters and the story come alive.
unbelievable, sad, scary.
the narrators ability to tell the story with the edge the story should have.
can't pick. very gruesome stuff.
I can't believe people can do this to each other. it is an eye opening story. its just plain shocking.
I've read all the books in the dewey andreas series and absolutely love them. I put this series right up there with mitch rapp. I can't say enough. suspense. action. ex delta operator. its got it all. can't wait for the next one. they get better and better each time, never waivering from the essence of the hero, dewey andreas.
dewey, of course.
the whole book equally.
mr coes, please keep these coming. good job!
The villain. Mr. Schultz really gives personality to this character.
Yes. I couldn't turn it off.
I'm a huge Mitch Rapp fan. I started listening to Brad Thor in between Mitch Rapp releases to pass the time between books. This is the first Scot Harvath book that rivals the Mitch Rapp series. I think Mr. Thor has finally caught up with Vince Flynn as far as action, depth, and character development.
Yes. Great story and great characters. The main character was a smart *** but likable.
I am a huge fan of Vince Flynn and his character Mitch Rapp. Although Flynn's books are more in-depth, this book was great.
The narrator does an incredible job bringing the hero and villian to life.
Laugh. The main character is a smart a**.
I look forward to more books by both this author and narrator.
