Eccentric Sunset Tuttle spent his life searching in vain for forms of alien life. Thirty years after his death, a stone tablet inscribed with cryptic, indecipherable symbols is found in the possession of Tuttle's onetime lover, and antiquities dealer Alex Benedict is anxious to discover what secret the tablet holds. It could be proof that Tuttle had found what he was looking for.

I'm one of the folks who bought the original version of this title with Paul Boehmer as the narrator. That version was horrible and I was never able to get past the first few chapters. Why use a guy when Chase Kolpath tells the story? Regardless, this version is much better though not up to the typical Alex Benedict standards. The narrator really struggles with the AIs and takes a while to get comfortable with the characters. She gets the hang of it by the last third of the book.

The story is good but not exceptional. The climax is pretty apparent a couple of hours before it actually happens. All in all, it is an okay way to spend a few days in the car.

I've enjoyed everything Scalzi has written and was happy to see this one available on Audible. Wil Wheaton is an excellent narrator and has done a fine job on other Scalzi books (Little Fuzzy comes to mind). The story is light-hearted and not particularly complex but is a fun listen, especialy on a long drive.

"Where have all the dragons gone?" Explore the crazy, creepy land called Discworld, where you'll discover that the dragons aren't asleep or dead - they're dormant, packed in like huge, scaly sardines.

This is my favorite title from the Discworld universe. I've read it twice and listed to it half a dozen times. The narration is excellent and I have always felt that this was the book where Pratchett hit his stride with the Ank Morpork characters. Very enjoyable and highly recommended!

I've had my copy of this title for a few years and have found it to suffer from some of the worst production of any Audible book I've bought. I've never been able to hear the reader well, even with the volume turned to full. I've read the book and it is a wonderful story, however, this audio version is too frustrating to listen to. Maybe they will re-engineer the performance and it will sound better.

When aliens trundled a gate to other worlds into the solar system, the world reacted with awe, hope and fear. But the first aliens to come through, the Glatun, were peaceful traders and the world breathed a sigh of relief.

I've enjoyed everything by Ringo that I've read in the past and went so far as to double-up on his stories by buying the audio version. This is the first one I've listened to that I hadn't read first. I admit the ultra-conservative politics became overbearing by the beginning of the second part. Everyone on earth is a naive liberal and incompetant unless they happen to be right-wing patriots. :sigh: I could read Glen Beck's latest and hear the same stuff.

I would have prefered more action or at least some diversity of characterization in the story. I ended up turning it off and driving in silence before I ever got to the end. Disappointing given the quality of Ringo's other work.
