This book grabbed me right from the beginning! It was a complete listen from start to end and the characters were so wonderful and fun to follow! Story was realistic. The empathy I felt for the "bad guy" was a bit of a surprise.
This book is a great book and the narrator is the best! She brings this story to life! Love the different problems and how the families deal with it and how the main character tries to help the host family and how her own families problems are not important to her. Love love love this book!
I can't figure out why, after 3 books with great drama and fantastic sex, did the author give us a novella to finish this series. There were so many ways to add more drama and road blocks for Damien and Nikki. There were only little bits of info given about Nikki's mom and the issues that she caused all through her pageant years and the death of her sister. Why didn't the author go more in depth and finish this story completely. DISSAPOINTING ENDING!!!
The story takes a while to get going, but it does get interesting. It was a good listen one the story developed. The narrator was just so so. Not something I would start again.
There are so many ying and yang pulls! The roommate and his fight over being bi-sexual or gay. The hidden secret that comes out at the worst time. And the relationship of father and daughter. And the all of the insecurities of the mother! It seems like a hot news that couldn't possibly get everything straightened out enough that they could possibly get together. Can't wait for more!
JD Robb (Nora Roberts) has created characters in her In Death series that grow through out the series. Eve and Roark now have a big extended family with Roark's real family from Ireland and all of the close friends that Eve and Roark have together. "It's hard work having all these friends." And Eve and her marriage rules truly are inventive and creative from a character that never really had a real family. Susan Ericksen is my favorite narrator!!! I have listened to almost everything that she has read. I was afraid that it would confuse the characters in the books, but she has a wonderful talent and can create all those characters!!! I really loved this Thanksgiving book. I will listen to this book probably 2 or 3 more times before the next In Death book comes out!! Hurry up already!!!!
I loved the 1st book in this series. The second book puts two characters together that I never would have imagined. And to see the love she had for her brother, to learn what she had gone through and the reasons why she has acted the way she has. And then her friends learning about her pay and her father showing up. Finally she has found someone whom she can love, learn to accept help from her friends, and find a way to forgive her mother after she finds out why she is the way she is. Really enjoyed the narrator. Love the advent. Makes you feel like your in London.
When I started this book, I didn't think I would like the narrator. But when we got to the 2nd chapter I was in love with this narrator and the story had me hooked. There are so many twists that you can't see coming that really surprise and sometimes startle and even scare you a bit. Nora brings out another winner with this book.
I loved the first book. But the second book was even better. It is amazing to see how they use our modern medical devices in the future just to see how progressive their scientist are. What Beatrice had to go through in this book because she is divergent is amazing. That a girl of 16 would give her group or "sanction" help by giving herself up to be studied by their scientist to figure out why she fits into 3 sanctions. And how Four tries to help her and loves her but treats her with respect and teaches her about the different sanctions and their societies. Great story! Very engaging and riviting . Great writing. Enjoyed every page!
Veronica Roth is a very engaging writer. She writes about a future Chicago and creates a story that you can see really happening! I love the characters. I love the fighting and friendships and love that develops. I love how "Trice" develops from a teenager trying to find herself and decide who she is and where she fits in. In our world she would be considered a genius. In their world she's divergent but she fits in in 2 other sanctions. So she chose the one where she would feel the most free...free to be herself and to try things she would never have been allowed to do in her parents sanction. And I fell in love with Four! What a champion and gentleman and fighter! Great book. I just finished the 2nd book. Can't wait for the 3rd and final book. But will look forward to anything she writes from now on. She paints with words so you can see her story!
