Rory MacLeod is a bold and powerful Highland Chief with only one allegiance-to his clan. He vows revenge against the rival MacDonald clan, though duty demands a handfast marriage to Isabel MacDonald-a bride he does not want and has no intention of keeping. But Rory couldn't have anticipated the captivating woman who challenges his steely control and unleashes the untamed passion simmering beneath his fierce exterior.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No. The story is boring beyond belief. Only the halfway decent narration saves it a little. I tolerated 3 hours and had to give it up.

What could Monica McCarty have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

    Construct a plot.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Antony Ferguson?

    Maybe

What would have made this romance irresistible?

    A story, character development

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I usually love Amanda Quick and the story will probably turn out to be good, but I can't get past the narrator and had to return it.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

    Different narrator.

Would you be willing to try another one of Louise Jane Underwood’s performances?

    Absolutely not.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment. I had hoped for better. I haven't bought the last couple of Amanda Quick's books on audio because Justine Eyre is horrible. Now another whiney narrator with men that sound like 12-year old girls.

    Any additional comments?

Ah, Barbara Rosenblat, where are you when we need you? Now there is a great narrator, especially of Amanda Quick.

Once upon a time, a historical romance author created a family.... But not just any family. Eight brothers and sisters, assorted in-laws, sons and daughters, nieces and nephews (not to mention an overweight corgi), plus an irrepressible matriarch who's a match for any of them.... These are the Bridgertons: less a family than a force of nature. Through eight best-selling novels, listeners laughed, cried, and fell in love. But they wanted more.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, if that person has read Quinn's Bridgerton books. Otherwise, this little collection would not make nearly as much sense.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Bridgertons: Happily Ever After?

    Daphne's surprise late-in-life pregnancy.

What does James Langton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He is an awesome narrator! What a range of tones and accents. I tried to listen to one of the second epilogues when they first came out and the narration was so hideous that I could not finish even one, but James Langton has saved the day, as it were.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not particularly. It just makes me smile fondly and sigh happily, visiting those wonderful Brigertons again.

What disappointed you about Goddess of the Hunt?

I read the book a few years ago and liked it--Tessa Dare is always good. But I could not get through more than 20 minutes of this narrator's absolute massacre of this title. Sad waste of a credit. She has this odd galloping narration that drags out every 4th word--no kidding. Makes the sentences nonsensical. You have to really concentrate to get beyond the pacing to understand what's being said.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

    Different narrator.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Helen Moore-Gillon?

Almost anyone. I really like Angela Dawe, Ashford McNab, Rosalind Landor, Susan Deurdan, Rebecca deLoew.

What character would you cut from Goddess of the Hunt?

No one--story is fine as I recall from reading it.. Couldn't listen to it.

Damien Knight, the earl of Winterley, is proud, aloof, and tormented by memories of war. Though living in seclusion, he is named guardian to a fellow officer's ward. Instead of the young homeless waif he was expecting, however, Miranda FitzHubert is a stunning, passionate beauty who invades his sanctuary and forces him back into society. Struggling to maintain honor and self-control, Damien now faces an even greater threat: desire.

If you could sum up Lord of Ice in three words, what would they be?

    sensual, tense, complex

What other book might you compare Lord of Ice to and why?

    Lord of Fire, same family

How could the performance have been better?

have the hero NOT sound like an 80-year old sick woman!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    Damien's overcoming his war trauma

    Any additional comments?

All the voices Emma Greene does are good EXCEPT the male hero--it is so horrible I couldn't listen to the whole thing. Yikes!
