Sam Acquillo is at the end of the line: he's a middle-aged corporate dropout living in a ramshackle cottage in Southampton's North Sea. But then the old lady next door ends up floating dead in her bathtub, and it seems that Sam is the only one who wonders why.

After listening to this book halfway through, I give up. The narrator wouldn't be so bad if he didn't try so hard with his female characters. He tends to drop his voice to make them soft and whispery and in doing so, makes them inaudible. After missing most of Amanda's dialogue in the first half, I quit!!! Although the story was interesting enough, it was just not good enough to take me through the second half.

Money wasted on yet another poor narration.

When 12-year-old Gratuity (Tip) Tucci is assigned to write five pages on The True Meaning of Smekday for the National Time Capsule contest, shes not sure where to begin. When her mom started telling everyone about the messages aliens were sending through a mole on the back of her neck? Maybe on Christmas Eve, when huge, bizarre spaceships descended on the Earth and the aliens called Boov abducted her mother?

This was one of the most delightful books I have listened to in a long time. Bahni Turpin is genius and her reading of this book was perfect!!! The story was fun and imaginative and kept me entertained the entire 10 hours and 37 minutes. Thank you Audible!

There isn't much fun in the sun when a billionaire real estate tycoon is found murdered on the Tilt-a-Whirl at a seedy seaside amusement park in the otherwise quiet summer tourist town of Sea Haven. John Ceepak, a former MP just back from Iraq, has just joined the Sea Haven police department. The job offer came from an old Army buddy who hoped to give Ceepak at least a summer's worth of rest and relaxation to help him forget the horrors of war. Instead, Ceepak will head up the murder investigation.

Agatha Raisin has never been one for forced holiday cheer, but her friendly little village of Carsely has always prided itself on its traditional Christmas festivities. But this year the bells will not be ringing out, as Mr. John Sunday, an officer with the Cotswold Health and Safety Board, has chosen Christmas as the time to crack down on safety hazards. But Mr. Sunday is soon found face down in the petunias, very much dead.

One morning in March, on the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea, a woman named Karen Drew is found in her wheelchair with her throat slit. Back in Eastvale on that same morning, in a tangle of narrow alleys behind a market square, the body of Hayley Daniels is found raped and strangled. On loan to a sister precinct, Detective Inspector Annie Cabbot draws the first case, but she turns up nothing in Karen Drew's past that might have prompted someone to kill her.

Simon Prebble did an amazing job on this story - I appreciated that he didn't try to "act" any of the characters but read them all to perfection. Unfortunately he kept getting interrupted by random bits of inappropriate music that tended to drown out his first words.

One of the most popular suspense novels of all time. A well-dressed man stalks the high-class neighborhoods of New York City. He is armed with an ice axe. His victims are strangers. And one cop, Captain Ed Delaney must solve a series of bizarre, gruesome murders that defy logic or method. This shocking story has captured the imaginations of millions like no other modern thriller.

I must say that I found the story good enough to overlook some of the dated dialogue that did not stand up to time and the droning narration. Not good enough, however, to buy more in the series.

The story was pleasant enough and I might have bought others (on sale) in this series as I am a fibre enthusiast but not with this narrator. I found that she enunciated each word, especially in the dialogue, so much so that I kept thinking she was targeting her reading to a 2 year old. However, I did finish the book so it certainly wasn't the worst narration I've endured.

He would go to Hell.... At the Iron Mountain Home for Boys, there was nothing but time. Time to burn and time to kill, time for two young orphans to learn that life isn’t won without a fight. Julian survives only because his older brother, Michael, is fearless and fiercely protective. When tensions boil over and a boy is brutally killed, there is only one sacrifice left for Michael to make: He flees the orphanage and takes the blame with him.

This was my first John Hart book and certainly not the last although I found the narrator wanting. Elena was not a strong character to begin with but Scott Sowers gave her a whiney voice and what sounded like a Russian accent rather than Spanish which was quite annoying. The rest of the characters were great and the twist and turns the story took all seemed to make sense in the end.

    Overall, definitely worth a listen.

Although Neil Gaimon is one of my favourite authors, Fragile Things was not one of my favourite audiobooks. Unfortunately, I couldn't keep track of where one story ended and another began. There were no obvious breaks and I just kept getting lost. I eventually gave up trying to listen and bought the book in paper.
