The story moved along at a steady pace. Always gripping intriguing!
Honesty about human nature and our relationship to "Man's Best Friend," our dogs.
Even though I do not have a dog myself - I have total respect for what dogs can do for people. It is amazing!!
He kept me captivated as he related the story. Great Book!
I certainly never laughed but no, no tears. Some parts touched the heart strings. I loved the earthy honesty of Jack London's story.
I would listen to anything Jack London writes after "The Call of the Wild"
The period when the Jews returned to Jerusalem is a part of the Biblical History that I have never quite understood. With Lynn Austin's wonderful talent of story-telling, I have been able to put the pieces together.
For instance, it had always seemed so unfaithful to me that only a remnant returned to Jerusalem when released from captivity in Babylon. God's chosen people did not all jump at the chance to return to their home land of Israel. Austin has made valuable points in her story-telling
making me see both sides of the circumstances.
I so appreciate having the opportunity to read this novel because it brought new life into the words of the prophets Haggai and Zachariah
which I have read over a couple of times with new inspiration.
Absolutely! Fast reading and exciting
No comparison. This is high seas drama
Dinner at Molly's
Jack Aubrey & his praise ship "The Sophie"
Exodus tells about the plight of the Jewish people without a land
Haj is a story about the Arabs who have land they do not use or cultivate
The clash of the two cultures is heartbreaking
Great! Very articulate - acting out the voices beautifully - one does not have to figure out who is talking because Neil Shah so easily takes on a different voice for each character- even the women. Wonderful Reader!
Arab Assumptions and Chaos
This book was recommended to me. It is a fabulous story and I give the author credit for his great capacity to create interest, comic relief and a fast paced story line. There are so many true accounts of people who really lived through the wars in Chetnya - why make up a story?
Interviews and struggles of two real and living families makes a book more enjoyable for me.
Human Character Revealed
I would read anything written by Leo Tolstoy!
Articulate and Well Spoken
A feeling of understanding - Tolstoy's statement is not always complimentary to his protagonist moral judgement.
Be the one who rises above in all situations!
For me, the audio was excellent! I do many things - drive, clean my house, cook, and more that afford me the opportunity to have an audio book going at the same time. It makes mundane chores much more enjoyable. The Scarlet Thread was definitely a great audio!
The mother of the main protagonist.
Francine Rivers is a wonderful story teller. This story is a redemption story that is bound to touch any readers heart - whether it is listened to or read.
Anyone who has interest in Chetnya will find this book a must-read. I have read several recent books on the Chetnyen wars of 1994 and 2004 and the main character's in Alexandra Lapierre's, "Between, Love and Honor" are usually referred to by name.
Of course, I liked Jamil. His story is heart wrenching yet filled with loyalty and integrity.
It is a true story of life, of people who struggle, of war, of love and in this case injustice.
One of the best parts of "Between Love and Honor" is that we were able to have a birds-eye
view of both sides motives, dilemmas, and reasoning for the war they waged on one another.
The title says exactly what the story culminates into - a decision that is made by Jamil to forsake the love of his life to save the lives of captive women and children. It is written by the woman that Jamil forsakes for honor.
We all need to be aware of the pain and fear that people throughout the world are experiencing. I Am Malala is wonderfully written. At the age of 16, Malala has given us a fast paсed story that is sincere and honest. We learn about the lives of her Pakistani family who are not rich and famous - that is until the eldest daughter (Malala) gets shot in the face by the Taliban. Such inhumane cruelty is hard for us Americans too imagine. We see it on the news and read about it but do not have it on our doorstep threatening our beliefs and daily behavior. I am grateful for the insight I received of the Pakistani people's understanding of 9/11 and how the people are in fear of the Taliban as we are. This book should be on the required reading list for all students. If we educated all young people in this world, ( as Malala wants) we would see a difference in this world and groups like the Taliban would be squashed!
Life style, family relationships and faith in her God... Insightful!
The Families desire to be of service to all in their community. Malala's drive to want education for all young people - not just herself.
Very interesting and thought provoking!
Great look at our own human nature. Ways and Solutions to look deeper within our selves to know God's purpose rather than our own.
I believe the book is designed to see ourselves in each character and situation.
The pastor who began to live for God instead of pleasing his congregation.
Our Human Nature as it is and how We Change!
This book is a great book to do in a group study. It can bring understanding and depth to anyone's life. Very High Regard for the writer. I plan to do a group study using "Idol Lies"
at our church.
I have purchased several copies for family members. I hope they read the interesting pages of this book.
The David and Goliath story - insights into GOD'S plan for David.
Excellent - He is articulate and interesting.
Yes! It is insightful and full of hope!
I plan to read more of Malcolm Gladwells's books.
