The assassination of heroes was once a warning... for an invasion that nearly destroyed the world. Nations were slaughtered, cities were erased from existence, and defending armies were crushed into oblivion. In weeks, all life stood on the verge of extinction. But the end did not come. Instead the black horde vanished, leaving terrified survivors... and rumors. As the centuries passed the holocaust faded into legend, and finally myth. Across the southern sea a gifted young man is completing his training.

Would you listen to Elseerian again? Why?

Yes. This is like LOTR but not a copycat. I have purchased all four of the series.

After 40 years in San Quentin, Luke Palmer leaves with a state-issued suit, $100 dollars to buy a bus ticket, and a map that will lead to a promise and into the heart of a dark forest. College graduate student Molly Monroe is about to release rare butterflies not far from where the FBI used 4,000 bullets in a shootout to kill Ma Barker and one of her gangster sons in 1935. Molly snaps a picture that will frame something she never sees coming.

What other book might you compare The Butterfly Forest to and why?

Excellent action story. Good diversity of characters. The writing transcends the typical mystery genre with near poetic phrasing. This is better than the latest Jack Reacher stories and nearly as good as C J Box!I'll be looking for other books by Tom Lowe.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was absorbing....couldn't wait till I could get back into the story.

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist William Tuohy follows Richard O'Kane, America's undersea ace of aces, and a few fearless submariners, during the U.S. submarine war in the Pacific. This grueling battle saw 10 million tons of Japanese shipping sunk by U.S. submarines, but the cost to the U.S. Navy was one in five of its boats, the highest casualty rate of the U.S. armed services.
