Where's the Mark Greaney of the Grey Man series. He must be on vacation because this one is a mess. I was hoping for a action packed listen but instead I got an earful of blah, blah, blah.
Generally Scott Brick is excellent but as I learned a great reader does nothing for a poorly written book.

My name is Landon Hamilton. I died five years ago, except I didn’t get to rest in peace like most of the departed. Instead, I was tapped by Dante (yes, that Dante) in Purgatory to become his champion and save humankind from the rest of the Divine - you know, angels and demons and their mortal followers. Yeah, I saved the world; but my vampire almost-girlfriend, Rebecca, stabbed me in the back (literally); I was forced to kill my angel best-friend, Josette; I’ve got a snarky werewolf taking up residence in my soul; and to be honest, I’m getting tired of the whole damn thing.

Surprised by the continuation of this series. My fingers were crossed and I was hoping it was as good as the first. Yes I was a little disappointed but overall I give it a THUMBS UP! Again excellent narration.

My name is Landon Hamilton. Once upon a time I was a twenty-three year old security guard, trying to regain my life after spending a year in prison for stealing people's credit card numbers. Now, I'm dead. Okay, I was supposed to be dead. I got killed after all; but a funny thing happened after I had turned the mortal coil...

Again I'm looking for a series that will knock my socks off and I hope I've found one to just that. Story stays on point and their is no whiny hero. Excellent narration by Jeff Hays and the cutting out of all the HE SAID & SHE SAID is something every director should do.

James Stark, a.k.a. Sandman Slim, crawled out of Hell, took bloody revenge for his girlfriend’s murder, and saved the world along the way. After that, what do you do for an encore? You take a lousy job tracking down monsters for money. It’s a depressing gig, but it pays for your beer and cigarettes. But in L.A., things can always get worse. Like when Lucifer comes to town to supervise his movie biography and drafts Stark as his bodyguard.

eep looking for a series that will keep it interesting the whole way through. Thought I had found what I had been searching for but......!!!!
The first half was good and parts of the middle BUT the ending was a let down. The title character "Sandman Slim" had lots of issues. Wanted to slap him in the mouth and say grow up you punk. To much sappy memories talk about a girl that he only knew for a brief time and was willing to watch the world burn in order to find revenge.
MacLeod did an excellent job in keeping the story rolling BUT at times "Sandman Slim" sounded more like a whinny baby than a stoned faced killer.
With all that being said I'm going to attempt the 3nd book in the series and see where it leads.

Crimes Against Magic is an excellent series. It has great character development and James Langton does an excellent job bringing the folks to life.

Two years ago, Robin Monarch was a top level CIA operative—perhaps the best they had when it came to black bag operations. Then one day, in the middle of an operation, with his team around him in the field, Monarch walked away, leaving his old life and friends behind without a word of explanation. Now this ex-soldier, ex-operative, and orphan with a murky past is a thief, stealing from the super-rich and has surfaced in St. Tropez.

A terrible darkness has fallen upon Jacob Weisz’s beloved Germany. The Nazi regime, under the leadership of Adolf Hitler, has surged to power and now hold Germany by the throat. All non-Aryans - especially Jews like Jacob and his family - are treated like dogs. When tragedy strikes during one terrible night of violence, Jacob flees and joins rebel forces working to undermine the regime. But after a raid goes horribly wrong, Jacob finds himself in a living nightmare - trapped in a crowded, stinking car on the train to the Auschwitz death camp.

    Story

One part that really hit me was how, although this is a fiction book, Joel Rosenberg has told a story that is true. There were some escapes from Auschwitz; the escapees tried desperately to get the news out about what was happening there and to keep more Jews from getting on the trains to death; and even that some people even in the camps sent letters trying to warn family members about the concentration camps. So many of the events in the book were factual and meticulously researched by the author. Yet the story he weaves is both fascinating and horrifying.

    Excellent narrating by Christopher Lane!

Made me take another look at America and it's Allies on their treatment of the Jewish people. As an American I can see both sides but it does not excuse the past mistakes our leaders have made.

I enjoyed the tie that was made between the Christians and the Jews, and how at one point one character tells another that the “question shouldn’t be, ‘Why are you, a Christian, here in a death camp, condemned for trying to save Jews?’ The real question is, ‘Why aren’t all the Christians here?’” Later Jedrick says that he is helping them (escapees) “because the Bible teaches us to love the Jews.”
