What is the meaning of life? It's a question every thoughtful person has pondered at one time or another. Indeed, it may be the biggest question of all-at once profound and universal, but also deeply personal. We want to understand the world in which we live, but we also want to understand how to make our own lives as meaningful as possible; to know not only why we're living, but that we're doing it with intention, purpose, and ethical commitment.

What about Professor Jay L. Garfield’s performance did you like?

He is excellent. His voice does reminded me a little bit of a nerdy professor at first, but his enthusiasm and passion for the the subject matter has blown me away. I think he's my favorite narrator that I've come accross to date. I just wish I would have stumbled across him before moving, as I lived not too far from where he teaches.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. There is a lot of material covered in each lecture. I can't do too many at once, as each topic needs a little time for reflection. ...although on occasion I do want to push myself and see how many I can do back to back.

    Any additional comments?

Jay Garfield makes an excellent performance in these lectures. He is fascinated by the material he is covering, and seems to love each topic he covers. Each lecture is between 30 and 45 minutes, which is just about perfect. So far, he has kept my interest for every lecture. I admit, I'm only 15 hours in, but I had to come online and see if he narrates anything else.... unfortunately, it doesn't look like he does at the moment.

Each lecture gives a brief overview of the various world religeons and major philosophies. The purpose isn't to tell you what the meaning of life is, but rather to discuss some of the major world ideas about the meaning of life - not just in respect to religion, but also from a philisophic viewpoint as well.

Overall, I'm thrilled with this purchase, which is why I wrote this review. A+ on all counts.

One of the best-known stories in American culture, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz has stirred the imagination of young and old alike for over 100 years. Best Actress nominee Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married, Alice In Wonderland), fresh from filming The Dark Knight Rises, lent her voice to this uniquely American fairy tale.

Where does The Wonderful Wizard of Oz rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would put this in the top third of the audiobooks that I've listened to.

What did you like best about this story?

    The narration was fantastic.

    Any additional comments?

I've never read "The Wizard of Oz" before, but I've seen several of the movies. I had no interest in this audiobook, but received it for free in a promotion. Today I decided to listen to it on a whim, and was absolutely blown away by the narration. The story was okay, but Anne Hathaway did a fantastic job with the different characters and almost became invisible to the listener. I would definitely recommend this.

She's a high school dropout, addicted to drugs and alcohol, and has a police record a mile long. But when she's made into a zombie after a car crash, her addictions disappear, except for her all-consuming need to stay "alive".

What made the experience of listening to My Life as a White Trash Zombie the most enjoyable?

Allison McLemore was quite possibly the best narrator that I've heard. Her voice fit the role just perfect. She brought the characters to life. I've heard several narrators ruin a good book, but I believe Allison McLemore made this book significantly better.

Have you listened to any of Allison McLemore’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Only from the other books in this series. She was incredible for all of them.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I couldn't stop listening to it, and ended up purchasing the other two books in the series and finishing all three in about a week.

    Any additional comments?

I really didn't have high expectations of this book, and only bought it during one of the "buy one get one" sales. I'm glad I did. This turned out to be my favorite purchase on Audible yet (over 50 audiobooks/great courses for comparison). I ended up buying the next two in the series and loved those as well.

I would strongly recommend this to anyone who is even remotely interested. Listen to the preview if you're unsure. It helped me make the decision to buy it.
