Didn't finish listening to the book, just picked it up because it was free, so....
I am a big fan of the Final Empire Trilogy, this is a continuation but taking place far into the future. But it is a great listen. It is a good old fashioned cat and mouse chase western, but with allomancy.
The trilogy wraps up in an exciting and epic conclusion. All of the questions are answered. I think that the ending was a bit rushed (that is my continuing critique of Larry Correia's work), but very satisfying.
I just love Larry Correia's work, his books are just so dang fun. You can feel his love for the story, and his desire to just give you a dang good time.
The action and intrigue just keeps building throughout the story, and when I think it can't build anymore it just keeps on going.
This was an incredibly fun listen. I was not expecting it to deal with such deep themes, but it does it very well. It balances action and intrigue brilliantly. Well worth the listen.
I liked the idea behind the magic, and the setting was really interesting. But the ending didn't quite work for me. I didn't like the narrator so much either. His voice for the main character sounded too much like Forest Gump.
This was really good. But it wasn't able to match the "epicness" of the second book. Also some of the characters i really enjoyed from the 3rd book were underused. I felt that the ending felt really rushed. I don't really understand why each book in the series is getting shorter and shorter.
This installment follows a a very different form from the previous books, and i actually preferred it. I was somewhat disappointed that the author returned to 1st person in the next book in the series.
As with each title in this series, this was a very fun read. While not quite as epic in scope as the second book, it does a much better job flushing out some of the background characters.
I would highly recommend this one.
Yes, and I already have. It's a fun and action paced series.
There is a part near the middle of the book where a place is attacked in a all-out undead assault, it was really awesome. The sheer creativity of the author in coming up with creatures was great.
I have only heard the first in this series, so I can't really compare.
Yes, I ended up listening to it nearly all the time.
