'Twas the night before Christmas…and dozens of rich, influential hostages are trapped inside a sprawling lakefront mansion in New Orleans. The perp? Detective Reed Ware, model cop turned outlaw. After receiving a panicked call from Hollis "Holly" Bayard, a teenage street tough with a penchant for amateur sleuthing who stumbles upon the scene of a drug-deal-turned-murder, Ware finds his and his friend's lives in dire danger. The crime Holly witnessed could be the biggest police cover-up this side of New Orleans - and no one's talking.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Consolidate the first few chapters of set-up. Get to the point. I can't finish the book so I will never find out if it was good.

What was most disappointing about Karen Robards’s story?

I find the set up in the book was too long and very repetitive.

Did MacLeod Andrews and Cassandra Campbell do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

I must say I loved the narrators. They did a great job!

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    No

Security Forces Lieutenant Maya Lopez is right at home in a war zone: she's been fighting all her life. A hard-won commission in the air force has brought her to Afghanistan, and if she plays her cards right, she could end up with an FBI job. It won't be easy, but that just makes her more determined. Jackson Thatcher is a protector in all senses of the word. A pararescue jumper with Southern-boy charm, he easily captures Maya's interest, but her trust is another story. He's sexy, strong and caring, but she makes it clear she's no damsel in distress.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I'm not sure I know who would enjoy this book.

What was most disappointing about Kaylea Cross’s story?

There was not a plot to the book. It went from Maya jumping his bones to being torture. I'm not sure how it all connected

How did the narrator detract from the book?

This was the worse narrator. He read slow with no emotion.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment. I forced myself to finish it.

    Any additional comments?

Good book if you want a nap

What did you love best about Skin Game?

I'm never disappointed. Great story from beginning to end. I missed Thomas.

What does James Marsters bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love the voices and passion in his reading. He makes the book come alive! I know it is cliche but really he does a great job.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Absolutely!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

    No sure

Would you be willing to try another one of Emily Sutton-Smith’s performances?

    Yes
