Why we think it’s a great listen: Never before has an author’s narration of his fiction been so important to fully grasping the book’s impact and global implications. Taking us from Afghanistan in the final days of its monarchy to the present, The Kite Runner is the unforgettable story of the friendship between two boys growing up in Kabul. Their intertwined lives, and their fates, reflect the eventual tragedy of the world around them.

    Joseph says: "A storyteller's story"
    "Listen - don't read!"
    Overall

A friend recommended I read The Kite Runner - but finding it on Audible I chose to download and listen. I thoroughly recommend this option. The author's voice (and accent), reading his own story, gives it added drama and charisma. One of the very best books I have "read" through the magic of audible - it gave me hours of walking pleasure - in fact I extended my daily walk from 3 to 5 kilometers, so I could hear more!

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

"Read reviews according to YOUR sex!"
    Overall

I absolutely LOVED this but, in reading the many reviews I have formed the opinion that - if you are a woman you should read the "girl" reviews - men read male! Possible this is the literary equivalent of a "chick flick" which may only be appreciated and enjoyed by our sensitive new age male colleagues (SNAGS)?

To survive in a game with no rules at all, John Corey must invent a strategy that includes no luck at all. He and the Anti-Terrorist Task Force must stop "The Lion," an alleged Libyan terrorist with the instincts of a wild animal, the bloodlust of a carnivore, and the boldness and speed of a cat of prey.

    CoCo says: "Excellent and engaging"

A Lion's Game kept me walking for 5 kilometers every day and I loved it! Scott Brick is the very best narrator I have encountered for such a part - he is totally believable. I am looking for more audible by Nelson DeMille - and hopefully starring Mr Brick! Thank you Audible!

When we meet septuagenarian Margaret Hughes, she is living alone in a mansion in Seattle with only a massive collection of valuable antiques for company. Enter Wanda Schultz, a young woman with a broken heart who has come to Seattle to search for her wayward boyfriend. Both women are guarding dark secrets and have spent many years building up protective armor against the outside world.

Barbara says: "Wonderful story of mending and redemption"

A wonderful, unusual plot - just keeps getting better - loved the narrator (particularly that she was not afraid to sing). Even though one pre-empted the eventual connections it was great fun following the steps to the happy ending!

This dramatic sequel to Jeff Shaara's best selling Rise to Rebellion continues his chronicle of the key characters of the American Revolution and animates some of the most compelling scenes in America's history: Washington's harrowing winter at Valley Forge, Benedict Arnold's tragic downfall, and the fiercely-fought battles at Trenton, Brandywine Creek, and Yorktown.

    "Excruciating"

I must be a slow learner! After 21 excruciating hours I finally gave up and deleted it - nothing happens! A continuing saga of non events but a sure thing if you want something to send you to sleep!
