I first heard about this book when Jenny McCarthy was on Oprah in early 2011. While Jenny was on the show promoting this book and sharing insights about her break up with Jim Carey, she defiantly sold me on the idea of buying and reading it. I waited until this book was in paper-back because I did not want to spend that much money on a hard-cover. I ended up looking it up here and buying it on audio instead – REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO IT – since it had been months since I wanted to read it. Well, Jenny McCarthy did not narrate this book – which infuriates me because it’s a memoir!!! Why can’t you audio your own book if it’s a memoir!!! So that bugged me. Also, some of the content was random and useless. Obviously it’s funny, but I would only recommend this book if it was free – or really cheap.
This book came highly recommended by a number of friends. I really appreciate this book and continue to use the tools, found within this book, in my marriage. My husband and I listened to this together and it really helped us communicate our love for one another better.
I read this book years ago and it changed my life. I listen to it now when I need to be reminded not to eat garbage., etc. I liked how they used facts and humour to get their point across. Would recommend to potential skinny bitches everywhere.
Easy listen, however, it didn't do much for me. I feel like because it's Mitch Albom, and Tuesdays with Morrie, and/or The Five People you meet in Heaven were such great books, that I need to give all his books a chance, but they never measure up. If you're into easy breezy effortless listens, then this is the book for you. However, if you're only reading this because you liked the above books by the author and hoping this will measure up, move on, it wont.
I did not like this book as much as I have liked most of Sylvia's other work.
I do love that Sylvia narrates it herself though, but I found the content dry and boring.
I could not stay interested, it was like a listening to someone read a text book.
I read this book years ago and could not wait to listen to it (again) when it became available on audio! This is such a fascinating and crazy story, I just loved it and would highly recommend to anyone interested.
I would recommend this book to anyone interested. I loved the fact that they did such a thorough job of investigating her history of postpartum depression, previous to the deaths of her children. It was an easy listen and well worth the credit.
This was a simple book, easy to listen to and follow along. It is in the same category as The Alchemist, in terms of content, so if you liked The Alchemist, you'll probably appreciate this book. I would recommend for fans of this author.
