“The green warrior decided to close in and end the battle; just as he rushed me, a blinding light struck full in my eyes, so that I could not see Zad’s approach and could only leap blindly to one side to avoid his mighty blade...." Suddenly projected to Mars, John Carter finds himself the captive of the savage green men of Thark. With him is the lovely Dejah Thoris, Princess of Helium. And between them and rescue lay a thousand miles of deadly enemies and unknown dangers.

Where does A Princess of Mars rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is the second audio version I've heard of a princess or mars, the first book in the John Carter series. The book is definitely dated (very victorian attitudes) but it was never supposed to be

Michael Havel was flying over Idaho en route to the holiday home of his passengers when the plane's engines inexplicably died, forcing a less than perfect landing in the wilderness. And, as Michael leads his charges to safety, he begins to realize that the engine failure was not an isolated incident.

Where does Dies the Fire rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I've really enjoyed this whole series so far (this is the first book but I've listened to books two and three now too)

The concept of what would happen if the world just stopped working right is age old in survival fiction and scifi but this was a new detailed take that really caught my imagination.

My complaint, and it's only obvious to those of us who are historical buffs (but let's face it a story where the history geeks rule the world after the apocalypse this is part of the target audience) I wish the narrator would have studied up on correct pronunciation of things like the pieces of armor or weapons. He even mispronounced city names that are not that unknown. Oh well, mispronunciation is my bane but for once I was able to glaze over it and enjoy a book that I'm sure will be re-listened to over and over again.

When the Lusitania sank, more than one 1,000 people died. One passenger, however, survived to become a changed man, giving up his life as a petty thief but keeping a small silver statue that would become a family heirloom to future generations. Now, nearly a century later, that heirloom, one of a priceless, long-separated set of three, has been snatched away from the Sullivans.

What did you like best about Three Fates? What did you like least?

I love the story of the three fates, it's the first Nora I read and it made me fall in love with Nora Roberts books, but the narrator on this drove me crazy.

Don't they have editors? It's bad enough when some foreign or complicated word is mispronounced, I can even take when a place name is pronounced wrong once in a while. The main male character of this book is named Malachi, mal-a-ki to rhyme with eye, not Mal-a-kee to rhyme with key which is how she pronounces his name the entire book. It totally took me out of the story every time she said his name. It's specifically stated that all three of the siblings have biblical names, Gabriel, Rachel, and Malachi. Not very professional, I could get better off Librivox narrated by an amateur.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Three Fates?

When you finally start to our heroine grow a backbone.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Horrible pronunciation, couldn't even get the main character's name right!
