  • Hell Hole: A John Ceepak Mystery

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 16 mins)
    • By Chris Grabenstein
    • Narrated By Jeff Woodman
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Hell Hole is the fourth book in the mystery series featuring hardened former military PD and current Sea Haven, New Jersey, police officer John Ceepak and his partner, wise-cracking Danny Boyle.

In Hell Hole, Ceepak is confronted with his most personal case yet when he must investigate the alleged suicide of a military corporal who recently returned from Iraq. It turns out that this "locked stall" rest-stop suicide is anything but an open-and-shut case.

Susan says: "Another Terrific Ceepak Mystery"
    "Best one yet"

The story line in Woodman's latest effort develops and culminates better than any of the previous books.
    Very entertaining and good fun.
Jeff Woodman, again, is absolutely brilliant in his portraying of the characters!
I can enjoy listening pretty much anything if the narrator does it right, and Woodman makes all the right choices - so good I forget he's reading. It's like watching a brilliant actor, forgetting they are reciting a script, and really believing in the character.
If you like a listen for the good narration, this series is a must.

  • Red Rising

    • UNABRIDGED (16 hrs and 12 mins)
    • By Pierce Brown
    • Narrated By Tim Gerard Reynolds
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Darrow is a Red, a member of the lowest caste in the color-coded society of the future. Like his fellow Reds, he works all day, believing that he and his people are making the surface of Mars livable for future generations. Yet he spends his life willingly, knowing that his blood and sweat will one day result in a better world for his children. But Darrow and his kind have been betrayed. Soon he discovers that humanity reached the surface generations ago. Vast cities and sprawling parks spread across the planet.

If you could sum up Red Rising in three words, what would they be?

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that the story moved along quickly .. no great moments - but it will be a movie.
    It held my attention.

What about Tim Gerard Reynolds’s performance did you like?

well read .. the first person character evolves well, if a bit slow.. but well .. He pulls of a hard job (ya.. - but not like that)

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

no - but, overall it was well presented and very entertaining

    Any additional comments?

Well worth a listen.. just trust me - It's a fun book. Do IT!
    -futuristic dystopia -
Kind of a Brandon Sanderson / Orson Scott Card blend. Unfortunately it seems a bit simplistic and could use a little Margaret Atwood flair for us more particulars..
    Take your injection as prescribed:
    - you will like it even though it's fodder for hunger games teens - trust me .. trust me..

    "amazon kills"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

yes, it's fun if you like it

    Any additional comments?

This system used to work... now everything from delivery to tracking purchases is in ruins.
This amazon takeover seems like a total fail!

  • Ender in Exile

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 47 mins)
    • By Orson Scott Card
    • Narrated By Stefan Rudnicki, David Birney, Cassandra Campbell, and others
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Andrew Wiggin is told that he can no longer live on Earth, and he realizes that this is the truth. He has become far more than just a boy who won a game: he is the Savior of Earth, a hero, a military genius whose allegiance is sought by every nation of the newly shattered Earth Hegemony. He is offered the choice of living in isolation on Eros, at one of the Hegemony's training facilities, but instead the 12-year-old chooses to leave his home world and begin the long relativistic journey out to the colonies.

Joshua says: "A Change of Perspective"
    "Another winner"

I don't rate 5 stars lightly - If you liked any of the other Ender audiobooks produced by Stefan Rudnicki, then this is a must listen. It features a full cast (the usual) of narrators, and thankfully, they don't overdo the accents for this one (see Xenocide). There is also a nice afterward from O.S.C. Enjoy!
